Note the interesting change Priscilla's Dream goes thru in the sun. Instead of the usual fade of other daylilies, it gets darker in a way.
Past Forgetting is really prolific.
Priscilla's Rainbow: I really love it's color. But many years it is a big disappointment, sometimes not blooming or just one or 2 buds. I have been getting rid of many of my poor performers, but this one I think I will continue to hang on to.

Sherry, The blooms stay great the entire day on Pigment of Imagination. It is an amazing daylily. Maryl is right, the bud count isn't so great, but mine has increased a lot in just a few years.

RE: Pigment of Imagination. You know I just have to give thumbs up to Richard Norris on that daylily. One of my pet peeves is a daylily that is not colorfast. So taking the lemon (a fading daylily color) and turning it into lemonade (a fading daylily color that turns into another unique color as it ages) is quite a novel accomplishment. Wonder where he will go with this new development? I hope you keep posting more pictures of it Cindy as the season starts next year.......Maryl

Penny's Worth does repeat for us, but there are not many buds on each scape. It would probably bloom more but we don't treat it very well. It is a much smaller plant than Stella or Happy Returns and we let it get covered by weeds. Also we garden in sandy soil and don't water lots. Its roots don't go very deep. It's really more suited as a rock garden specimen. It takes up so little room it is easy to find a little space for it. Its foliage is grass-like and is attractive even when it is not in bloom.

Hoosier Nan, I certainly would try Pure and Simple in another location, as it has done well here. And a number of cultivars that you have highlighted have not done well here, suggesting that in general your climate is less harsh (we have little snow cover, but some brutal temps). Of course, after all the zoning maps a few years ago pushed zone 6 farther north, last winter was like northern zone 5 here, and this winter has already seen -7, which is not a zone 6 temp.

As for Pat Garrity, I agree that the color is arresting, but I could not tolerate a bud count of 3 or 4. It bloomed early here and did usually rebloom later, but just pathetic bloom production. Again, though, I think this climate is harsher than yours.

Pancho Villa did really well for me this season. The colours of this bloom are true. We had a heavy rainfall the day before and it made the flower so vibrant.

Cindy, for me Damsel is Distress was always spotted. I moved it to a shadier place [doesn't get sun til very late morning] and it hasn't spotted since. Maybe you could try something like that with Pitter Patter. It is a great color!
How true is the color on Popeye the Sailor? I like it as it posted, but I know purples are hard to capture.

Brad, the color you see on Popeye is perhaps a bit dark, at least on my computer, I think you can tell by looking at the foliage . It is actually a bit more blue. It is a striking color. It does bloom early, and it has been short for me, but I have it in the front of the bed.

Question: As I noted above, for some reason Priscilla's Dream doesn't do well for me no matter what I've tried. I just discovered it is parent to "Big Dipper". Does anyone have this and does it do well for you?

Pitter Patter is supposed to have those spots. LOL ! First time I have heard of anyone not liking the spots. Makes it unique in its own way , just like Pink Stripes is unique.

Yup that is what attracts me .....the odd ones ....the ones that don't look like 40 others that give or take a few inches in height look alike. I am always on the look out for something different . Over the past 5 to 8 years there have been tons of the pink with yellow chicken fat edges daylilies and that is ok but who needs more than one ? Not me . Give me the oddballs I love 'em. Of course each to his own and there are plenty of daylilies out there to satisfy every taste .

I think it gets a bit overwhelming when there are hundreds that are really similar. Mind you, there are some gorgeous frilly show-off flowers that are on my wish list :) I don't think I could ever call a daylily boring though, or find one that I don't like.

oh my,I started out, thinking these purples are gorgeous, but, then kept looking and they are all so beautiful, purples, reds and pinks are just gorgeous.be so glad when spring gets here, but, I have to get a new camera first. my camera finally gave out last summer at the very end of the season.it just wouldn't turn on any more,and I loved that camera so much.Rita of Long Island N.Y. sent it to me a few years ago,and I really gave it a good work out .
