Flash Fiction

Thyrykas' post on "A Six Word Life" reminded me of this. I love short stories. True genius can be seen in some of them; and, the shorter the story the more remarkable they are. Arthur C. Clarke wrote some incredibly amazing short, short fiction as did Ray Bradbury. My favorite flash fiction of all time is Hemingway's "For sale: Baby shoes, never worn." Heartbreaking, poignant - in six words. Genius.

Our local "alternative" paper has a competition for flash fiction of 50 words or less every year. I always think about entering, then remember the Hemingway and abashedly set all such thoughts aside. lol
