Have we ever had a thread on McCarthy? I mentioned in Oct. reads that I had just read his book-The Road- my first by him. It was a book that I really can't forget-very stark and to the point-his language is spare but highly descriptive. The book is unusual and definitely not a "happy' read. I then saw a comparison of his writing with that of Charles Frazier-(Cold Mountain) in Time magazine. Frazier came up very short, in the reviewer's opinion. It was interesting. McCarthy was also compared to Hemingway. The only similarity I see is in the brevity of each man's words. He was also compared to Faulkner, perhaps because of the type of subject matter? I "think" I like McCarthy but I do not enjoy Hemingway. I am going to try Blood Meridian next and see how I feel then. Any one have thoughts on Mr. McCarthy and /or any of his novels?
