Help identifying a story

Hi there

I've received an email on my Gallico site from someone who wants to identify a story. She was told about it by a friend (who has now unfortunately died); her friend was of the opinion that the story was also by Gallico. However, her description does not match anything by Gallico as far as I can tell.

Quoting from the email...

he told me it was a story about two friends who made an agreement that if one of them dies he will make an attempt to meet with the one left behind. And it all happened in a book, one of the friends died and they met.

So, over to you! What story might it have been?

Martin something akin happens in "Snow" by Orham Pamuk, in this sense: Ka the main characther is a poet, and he meets a young student who has written a short story, this student read his story to Ka, in order to have an opinion, and in this story happens what you've described

Hmmmm...and it's called Snow, eh?

There were two books that this friend recommended, apparently, and the other one was The Snow Goose by Gallico....maybe a coincidence....but it's interesting, isn't it...?

You sure have honeybees! If you want to take them out alive the siding have to be removed to get axes to the hive. See if a bee keeper is willing to do the job and how much..$ Konrad

Your most reliable source would be the builder of that model home. Since it is new there should be no problem finding the reference number.

Shazza, sometimes the cost of a smaller house plus construction costs will be greater than if you had just bought a larger house. You need to have a reputable builder visit the house and give you a realistic price for the improvements you want to make. The final price will always be more as there are always unexpected issues that are found when you take apart older homes. We are remodeling our kitchen and we found some old water damage behind our sink. It added 2 weeks of work and involved taking apart a whole corner of the house. I don't have a total number yet, but I'm guessing it will add $10,000 to the final cost.

Thank you for the comments so far - I'll be checking out the weephole situation again to see if those were possibly covered up. I received a comment from a friend too who suggested to just spray water at the side of the house for a while and see if water enters the basement (possibly taking the windows out of the equation for now). I'll do that in the spring as well. I've actually done that before, but it was pre-caulk (where I caulked the red line). This is the first time I've seen water in the basement since then, so I had assumed (obviously incorrectly) that the caulk corrected the issue.
