Musicians and Musical Instruments in Fiction

In the April reading thread, colormeconfused mentioned that she's reading The Piano Tuner by Daniel Mason. That caught my interest because I am acquainted with a piano tuner who loved reading The Piano Shop on the Left Bank by Thad Carhart after I recommended it to him. Similarly, I once recommended The Soloist by Mark Salzman to a cellist who enjoyed learning there was a novel with a cellist protagonist.

You can see the theme that's popped into my head. Can you recommend other novels that involve musicians or musical instruments? As a non-musician, I enjoy reading the insider information these novels reveal, and I also enjoy telling my musician friends about these books. (They would never find them on their own. They're too busy being creative!)
