Yes, we did hear from Rayma a few months ago, and I hoped that meant she was back to stay, sorry to say we haven't heard from her again.

As for Janalyn I think she went back to work, and she has always been very involved and busy with her family, but although we usually stay in touch I have been remiss these past months and didn't do my usual Christmas card mailing and did not hear from her either.

Paula, I've noticed that Chris in the Valley hasn't been around for some time; I miss her taking no prisoners. ;-)
I think Janalyn travels a lot with her DH. I know a few people never got back into the system after the mess-up of a couple of years ago when many of us had to re-register.

More like a collie, a very high energy dog in a variety of colors. It's actually an American breed, first used by Basque sheep herders who immigrated to the United States from Australia, hence, Australian shepherds. They are slightly smaller than collies and are generally born without tails. It is not unusual for them to have two different colored eyes, or even one eye with two different colors.

What a pretty dog! Is she friendly as well?

My friend has an Australian Shepherd, and he is the smartest dog. He can pick out particular toys to play with. They'll tell him to get the blue donkey and he can pick it out of a basket full of dog toys.

Very friendly, though alas a jumper. She will be seven years old this summer and still has the energy of a puppy. Barks ferociously but that is it. That and is a famous food thief as well.

Sarah Canary, I think that herders in general tend to be the smartest dog breeds, given that they are supposed to be able to make independent work decisions. She is certainly too smart for us, having learned to ring the doorbell when she wants to come in, and turn the handle of doors she wants to open. We keep her in the kitchen when no one is home, and had to put a childproof door handle on that door to keep her there. We had to ignore the doorbell for a couple of weeks to extinguish that behavior!

We have a red merle Australian Shepherd called Obie - a big male (95lbs) and 12 years old so FINALLY calmed down a bit. He is very smart, incredibily treat-oriented for behavior decisions, and a good protector for his adopted sister Muttley (black mutt terrier/heeler mix sort of thing) and a wonderful guard dog. Loves the postman although likes it best when he can see him face to face as opposed as to through the window. A major Frisbee fan who has treasured his old red toy for ten years now.

He was a terrible puppy, but has grown into a well behaved very stately animal in his old age. He is a great dog (as is Muttley).

Muttley, btw, is named after the black dog in the Hanna Barbara cartoon called Wacky Races. Remember a guy called Dick Dastardly who had a dog who always made a gnashing noise. Well, little Mutt is named after that dog if anyone remembers the cartoon. She is a chaser and 12 as well although acts like a six year old.

lemonhead - the first dog we ever owned was give the name Muttley also. He was a stray that we coaxed into our house during an April blizzard. We couldn't tell his head from his tail, and didn't know what to do with him. The neighbors down the road were dog owners and breeders, and took Muttley to their home to wash and groom him. When they brought him back he was a miniature poodle! We guessed that he had been dropped off in the country by someone who didn't want him, probably before the bad weather, and Muttley sought shelter during the storm in the lee of our house. He grew to trust and love us, and we him. He was ours for ten years before he died.

To return the thread to its OP: It has been a little over a years since I heard from Janalyn.We used to be in touch at Christmas. I do miss her posts here.

There are a good number of members from the "old days" who no longer post. I still wonder whatever happened to Susan, to Tim and to Russ.
