Just as well you found that caterpillar, Nick, before it did more damage. Do you enjoy your Sharry Baby? I have heard mixed reviews here, although most people seem to like them. I was tempted by one at the Orchid Auction this year, and there will undoubtedly be some at the next one. It was cold and windy here too, Sue, but no snow, thank goodness. The upside down hangers are wonderful for tomatoes, and we have bought more for next year. What we need for orchids is something with a tilt on it, to tip out any excess water. We could patent it! Judy, I wonder just how many orchid stories there are out there, waiting to be made into a collection. Those stories could give you nightmares if you had any orchids with long tendrils... I liked the idea of music to view orchids by, but I think I'd choose something a bit more classical. June

I've grown many climbers on walls and chain link in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys as well as in Pacific Palisades. The first two below are the "bendiest", while Rosarium Uetersen is more difficult but works well on the same wall as the linked plant at the end of this response. Crepescule Renae Rosarim Uetersen A modern climber which has performed admirably for me in both climate types is Social Climber. Good foliage, dense, nice flowers, blooms heavily, healthy. If you want it thornless fragrant, ever blooming and are willing to wait for it to climb, take a look at a rose I raised, Annie Laurie McDowell. It's only available from Burlington Roses in Visalia and only own root. She will bloom at the expense of growing, much like Rosarium Uetersen will. Thanks for your suggestions. I went to Heirloom last weekend and looked at several climbers. Dublin Bay (a sport of Altissimo as well) was absolutely gorgeous and even though it doesn't have much of a fragrance, I was very impressed as Heirloom doesn't spray and it seems to be very disease resistant. I also bought The Impressionist and an Eden at the 1/2 price sale. Whatever am I going to do with these? A true addiction. But once I saw the latter two, I had to have them. You just might have better luck with yours. Mine was a grafted rose, that I moved 3 different times & was ready to shovel prune, when I plopped it down in the spot it's in now. Guess it got scared & decided to do something then. I am keeping All Ablaze, but just planted 2 other roses with it to fill in. Amadeus and High Flier. I figure that, out of the three, one of them is bound to do good. lol
