Okay, Medo and CarolynP effectively twisted my arm! I'm in! I see some things that I can fill requests for, too, which is going to be such fun! I am concerned over the names that noone else has picked to send to yet. Is there any way we can pick from the list of people that haven't been picked yet to be sure we're sending something to everyone? I'd love to volunteer to send things I have to several of them to be sure to spread the holiday spirit more evenly. Just LMK how you want to handle that issue, Kym, okay? I'd be happy to wait until you get a list from other people of who they're sending to before I pack up my seeds. Here's my list. I have divided Lomandra a number of times and found it pretty easy. I cut the top growth back quite savagely and try to include as much root material as possible. They will sit there for a few months or so and then come away fine. Depending on the size of your clump, you can divide them up into smaller clumps as well. I have noticed however they recover faster along the edge that is uncut ie. the outside where the new shoots would normally appear. Keep them well watered. Also take care you do not plant them too close to your shrubs/trees as their roots can get very competitive. I prefer the Tanika variety mentioned by Richard as well. It has a much more delicate look and is more in scale ie. not too big.

We have planted a field of L. longifolia on a north facing site with spacing of 6 -8 inches between each seedling, in many rows. We got a rapid coverage but now after a few years it is obvious that it may have been a little too close. Perhaps the 18" you suggest might work although it may be slower initially. I liked the idea of thick coverage early so there was less run off of water..

Andrea, by ordinary liquid fertiliser, I mean one not designed specifically for natives e.g. Thrive. Some natives can take ordinary fertiliser - brachyscome and paper daisies, which both flower for a long time, are two that spring to mind. I'm not saying you must do this, just that with a reasonably high rainfall and sandy soil, it's something that works for me. As for the rest of my native garden, which mostly consists of shrubs, most plants receive a small handfull of slow release native fertiliser once or twice a year. I avoid feeding anything I consider "difficult", eg, Boronias, Fringe lilies, Geraldton Wax etc, as I've learnt to think of these plants as lovely but short lived pot plants.
