Since Don started this thread there has been a rethink/redo on the part of the AHS with respect to dwarf and miniature Hostas. A miniature Hosta is now classified as having a leaf size of The revised list Don did for miniatures and very small Hostas can be found at my website, Bob Axmear has moved the link to my site to his links page on the HL, that has made finding the lists more difficult. I suggest you redo your bookmark/favorite for the lists. Pieter

I bought a confertifolia yesterday so if you can wait a year I might be able to send you some seed!. However suggest you contact Aust. Plant Society. The longifolia grows extensively here in East Gippsland. I will keep my eye open for the confertifolia, but all these reedy things look pretty much the same unless you are doing scientific studies.

Izel just wrote a blog post about sedges. https://www.izelplants.com/blog/getting-sedgy-with-green-mulch/ I planted Carex albicans last year as a matrix, but it hasn't been in the landscape long enough to really say much about it. I also planted Carex blanda 2 years ago, and have Carex rosea and Carex sprengelii waiting to be planted, which are also clump forming sedges that can tolerate dry shade. I have Carex vulpinoidea on my property which came in by itself, it is a plant that some sources say self seeds aggressively, while other don't mention spread, I think it depends on how happy it is with the conditions. Some sedges like Pennsylvania sedge and Carex stricta can spread via rhizomes, sometimes aggressively. Carex blanda on the left Carex blanda. This one is known to seed around a bit but the seeds are held low, maybe ant or animal dispersed, and I haven't found any seedlings yet.

Well we purchased 2 - society garlic in green (expected mature size between 1-2 feet tall and wide with the shoots probably another 12” above), 3 osteospermum 4D violet ice daisy (expected size 8”-12” tall and 12-16” wide). It felt so good to pull the old stuff out! I temporarily placed the new stuff in their containers into existing spots. It’s not as large and grandios and everything has room to grow. We tried to stay native but couldn't find anything for this small space. We considered star jasmine as a hedge, but it would not provide the same variety and not sure how long it would take to fill in and train. I thought about putting a tall hose holder on the far left since pur hose now is tolled up on the ground next to the planter. I was also considering pots in the planter to provide height. Can’t wait to hear feedback. Happy to consider changes and open to ideas. we can return what we bought so we have options.
