Applenut, Thanks for the info. I'd run across the grove research station in tas on the net before. Misread the info thought it was only whole sale but that just means a min $50 order. I've bought quite a few things from daleys mostly sub tropicals. Don't know why but I got an idea in my head that I should get apples from specialist nurserys. Woodbridge fruit trees and Heritage fruit trees. The idea of a bunch of apple varieties on each of my espaliers is very appealing as we have very limited space.

This year I tried to restrain myself. The current selection, most of it still in the fridge, is: Exotica (sitting next to the computer, just about to bloom) Aphrodite (showing the tips of stalks, on the kitchen counter) Charisma (3) Lemon Lime (2) Pink Diamond (3) Melusine Papilio Picotee (2) In past years I have also loved: Apple Blossom Hercules Green Goddess Nymph Sweet Surrender (the most magnificent flower, but they do eventually bend down, even with stakes, and can look messy towards the end) and others too numerous to name. I also have about forty Ziva paperwhites just waiting for their pebble and water homes. Am always looking for pretty containers for my paperwhites! My amaryllis are all potted in terra cotta, slightly larger pots than are usually recommended. My addiction to this flower is sick, sick, sick, and I love it!

Hey Everyone! Just got home about 3:30, am totally wiped out, wanted to post about my package before I fall asleep standing up! Jayeanne sent a really nice package, two packages actually, she forgot to put the dog treats in the first one! I got what I think is a leash holder, shaped like a dog bone, with 3 hooks on it; it says "good dog" but that can easily be changed to "good Kitties"! Pink also sent a cinnamon pumpkin candle, a backpack size hand sanitizer (I use these ALOT), and a very sweet note, with baby Pugs on the front. And then there were the seeds she sent. I AM SO EXCITED! There were Coleus, sweet peas, California poppies and acorn squash. AND THEN, there was Broom Corn, Fleabane and Bishops Flower, all three of which great for attracting Butterflies!! I have one lonely little patch of Fleabane show up in a different spot every year, Now I'll have it where I want it! All three of these are new to me and I can't wait to get them planted! Jayeanne, thank you very much for a great "Dog Days" package. Loved it! If I didn't think I would wake up at 3 am and be awake for the rest of the day, I would go to bed NOW! tuderte, both your experience and mine seem to point to a way to control those house-eating plants: contain them... literally. They can handle it, evidently, even though they would certainly love more real estate if they can get it. I suspect that some roses do better when not pampered; I guess they like a challenge. I happen to have enough room (or at least I think I do) to plant out a vigorous climber, just to see what happens. If your brother has room, 'Silver Moon' may be just what he needs, but maybe he didn't realize it? And if you're worried 'SM' will outgrow its welcome there, perhaps try it in a large pot first?
