Does the first one's leaves change to red?? Could it be Omalanthus?? Bleeding Heart Tree...although I'm not sure if it is deciduous....Tina

The first one is Triadica sebifera, better known as Sapium sebiferum, Chinese tallow tree. I believe it's regarded as a potential major weed in your part of NSW.

The second is a very common and long-established weed, Solanum mauritianum, commonly known as wild tobacco tree/bush.

Tony, thanks for the tree info. The bushy plant isn't any solanum I've seen, and it isn't woolly nightshade/wild tobacco

The plant I've shown doesn't have furry leaves and its flowers aren't your typical 5 petalled fused stamen solanum setup. The leaves are a deeper green than s. mauritianum as well.

I'll take a better photo of it soon, after I take my kid to kindergarten.

The first photo did resemble tobacco weed but it is obviously different in the second photo. Not sure what it is but I do love your frog.

Hi Peter I have a Chinese Tallow tree but it doesn't have those catkins on it? the other one looks like a Hardenbergia or(Happy Wanderer) but I am not sure if they come in pink as I have only seen purple or white.

Is my face red! I did not look closely enough at your pic and so did not notice the young flower spike at top right.

The plant appears to be Persicaria orientalis -- or Polygonum orientale depending on your preference.

Triadica sebifera does have its male flowers in yellow catkins just like those in your first pic, but I confess I have some doubts now. The leaves of your tree are heart-shaped while in Triadica they tend more to rhombic (rhomboid?). Or maybe not -- see the nice series of pics in the link below. I think the distinctive feature of Triadica is the seeds being covered in a thick layer of white wax (of economic value in China) and held on the tree long after the capsule opens. But it's in autumn/winter that this feature is apparent.
