I use MiracleGro-acidic formula, on our blueberry shrubs, every year. This year I am using Schultz's Plant Food, because I could not find MiracleGro on the store shelf. Schultz's is a similar product, you mix it with water, and then irrigate that shrub. I am conservative with fertilizer, I use very little, and I dilute it far beyond the recommendation provided by the manufacturer. For blueberries, I mix one table spoon of fertilizer in four gallons of cold water. Typically, each blueberry shrub gets three applications every year, one in March, April, and May. This is for established shrubs, new plantings get no fertilizer the first season. The shrubs are generally healthy and productive. Maintaining the correct soil pH is another issue, and has little to do with fertilizer. We live in the city of Madison, so it would be more difficult to obtain and apply manure. By using a balanced fertilizer with multiple plant nutrients, I know that the shrubs have what they need for growth and blooming. The flavor of the fruit is very good, and there has never been any odd flavor. There is more to growing blueberries than applying fertilizer, but MiracleGro and Schultz's have both worked for me. Our plants are healthy, and they are also hardy, standing up to winter conditions with little or no loss. Our blueberry patch is now 16 years old.

It opened today. You can clearly see the 3 leaves that emerge from this leaf node. I have to believe that the large number of individual flowers has something to do with the extra leaf, as I think this is about 1/3 more flowers than you would normally see in a fungii peduncle. Denise in Omaha

I'm quilting a king 120x120 on my regular machine right now! I always start my quilting in the middle of the quilt, and it's quite frustrating there, but its not so bad once you get out to the sides. My sewing table is very large and it is important to keep all the weight of the quilt on the table! I stop and reposition the quilt frequently. If you have an office chair you may try raising the chair height a bit. This was recommended to me by my first machine quilting teacher, and I don't normally have shoulder pain. I've taken a long Christmas break from this quilt but need to get back at it this week so its done by warm weather!

Laura, thanks for asking for a pic of those pots, they are freaking huge!! There's no way I can pot up that big and comfortable have adequate room for them. I'll probably go up a few sizes though. I do have a couple giant pots in my yard but those are for the cold hardy Raspberries, Blueberries, and Red Currants. I don't have to move those ones in the winter. In regards to my citrus, I would like to keep them somewhat mobile. We have a bank of trees behind our house that can eat up a lot of sun so I tend to keep my citrus on the deck and would need to conserve some space with the furniture and BBQ grill there lol My trees literally look like Brian's in the blue pots at the moment
