I have had it for 5 or 6 years, and this is the first year it really put on a show. It was worth the wait.

And it is certainly a pretty one, too. I am pretty new to daylilies, too and certainly have become addicted to them.So many beautiful ones out there.I have been addicted to roses for years,but since seeing so many gorgeous DL's I am thinking more about them,then I am roses,and will probably get rid of a few roses,and just keep my favorites.Well,anyway, the roses are b urnt up and have lost a few this summer,and they too much work,which I am not able to keep up with no more,due to severe back pain.

Thanks Kay. You really have to see the color in person as it changes (but in a good way) throughout the day, often picking up a smoky tint overlaying its base colors (hence its name). Another thing I really like about it is that the colors don't blah/bleach out by evening even in full sun....Bambi: This is Smoky's 3rd year here....Jean: I'm with you on the roses. I started backing off about 3 years ago. They are still my primary love, but enough is enough. It's 104 degrees (no kidding) and not going to get any cooler anytime soon. I need to deadhead, spray and water the roses. My daylilies are through blooming and I don't have to do much to them at all. They are pretty drought tolerant. In this heat that's my kind of plant.

I really wanted to order this from Ladybug DL's but it's not evergreen so I didn't. If someone in FL chimed in to say it performed well for them I'd be grateful. I LOVE the color.
I'm pretty close to zone 10.

maryl. Yes it was 104 at the time,and a hr later it hit 105 with a heat index of 111. Thats too hot for me.I suffered heat exhaustion about 8 yrs ago while cutting grass and had to crawl to the house on my hands and knees,couldn't stand up.Couldn't breathe and too weak to stand,and I have not been able to handle heat since.

I really like Smokey Mountain Autumn, also, but I am in PA. I like its shades of color.

I love SMA too. I have had it for awhile and it just gets better and better. It multiplies quickly as well. The flowers are almost always perfect, too.

Ditto what Leslie said! It's a keeper here in Oregon too.
There is no other daylily I know of with smokey coral rose color like it!
It's an excellent parent, too. One of it's kids, Possom Hollow Lou Alice, is another one I will always grow
because of it's loads of flowers, beautiful form and diamond dusted pink sherbet color.

I have SMA in my zone 4 garden it does well here the color is unusual and very eye catching.

I'm so happy everyone likes this one. Picking daylilies can be daunting on a budget. But this is such a winner for me, and inexpensive, that I'd even try it in warmer climates. My friend in Santa Barbara California grows dormant daylilies, so maybe others can to. Anyway, I wanted to post this picture of it too. It's SMA in late afternoon in July (an Oklahoma July!!!). Look how the colors have held. You can even see the smoky overlay if you squint:

I know this is an old post, but it convinced me that this is a must have for me. I have been eyeing it for the last month.

I finally emailed the local dl garden, Lakeside Daylilies, and asked if it was still available. Their open gardens are in late June and I was going to wait until then to get it, but after seeing this post, decided to go for it. Looks like I can't go wrong with this one.

I'd really like to see your pictures if anyone has any.

Thought I had some better pics of this one, but this is all I can find on this computer. Tried to get rid of it some years ago - sold my big clump, but kept a little piece of it for my "surprise" bed at the entrance to the garden. Still have it there, as the color is so recognizable that most will know it.

One of my very favorites, the coral/lavender/rose color is unique
& it performs beautifully here in Oregon, even with the cool nights.

Gosh that's pretty. I think it's one of the prettiest daylilies I've seen. Thank you Marias and Floota for sharing. It really is as richly colored as the pictures on the garden websites.
