Mary, I found it very difficult to get back here and eventually DH managed to get into the system by checking back into Firefox's 'memory' to find a link that would work; there seemed to be about 10 to chose from; but only one that worked for us. The last time the system broke down he had to go into google to find a link.
I would be interested to know how other people managed . .. in case of problems in the future.

I was locked out for a few days, too. I sent a cry for help via the "contact us" button below (last bullet point under Instructions) and they were VERY helpful. It took a couple of days to figure out what was wrong, but they answered every email I sent and responded promptly.

I *think* what happened had something to do with the URL for this site being changed. I've had this site bookmarked for years and always use that as a shortcut to get here. I think my computer was using an old URL and Glyphs/Gardenweb somehow magically continued to forward me here despite that and I was none the wiser. However, that magic bit in the middle didn't work anymore this past weekend, hence the need to figure out how to log in again.

That's how I understand it, at least, I could be explaining this completely incorrectly as I know only enough about computers to be dangerous.

I cleared my cache, used the new URL they provided (http://www.gardenweb.com/auth/login.htm?http://glyphs.gardenweb.com/forums/paradise/ ) to log in, deleted the existing bookmark, added a new one, and I'm back.

I hope that made sense.

I also had log in problems.....wrote to them and suddenly it was fixed.

Sheriz, thanks for the tip. I have written to the site twice with no reply at all.
I tried to register again but was rebuffed as already being registered! I could read but couldn't reply, so infuriating!

I could always get the site, but I got the message to re-register that comes up every few weeks, and then it didn't like my password. I changed that and it still wouldn't accept it to let me post a message, although they sent a confirming email . That continued for another day, and then it was okay for me. Gremlins.

P.S. I like the new snowflake background, but I'm getting a lot of perimeter ads that slow down the loading of threads.

Since last weekend when the gremlins hit, I can't log into RP with Firefox, but can log into GardenWeb. And I have had no problem logging into either with IE. I just sent a help message too!

Donnamira, I logged into RP on Firefox earlier today using the link that Sheriz gave. I went into IE a few days ago with no luck obviously. I tried just about everything! I was wondering about getting a new email address or even getting my D to register and pass on a message that I was off line but still able to read the posts.
Things were getting desperate!
I saw the notice about the goblins. Couldn't a new link have been posted when they had been defeated?

I had trouble the other day at home, but no problem at work. When I got home that night it was back up at home too.

I just received a reply from GardenWeb with the same URL that SheriZposted, and I see it works here on my work computer. Will add Sheri's tip on clearing the cache when I try it again on my home laptop. thanks!! It was getting annoying to have to switch browsers to post anything!

I couldn't get in last weekend and was relieved to see the goblin message. I gave it a couple of days and then was even more relieved to find that all is well with my login now.

I must remember to update my saved URL regularly as I don't want to have that problem again!

I am still having a problem because the Follow-Up box vanishes sometimes. I have to log in on the new link again. At least I can reply now, it was so frustrating before, having so much to say!

The problems continue. Yesterday, I could not log in at all. Today, suddenly, I can. It is very, very frustrating! Oddly enough, I used to post on Hot Topics. When I go there, I have no trouble at all logging on to that particular forum. So why should RP be different?

Mary, RP plus the Movie and Music sites are all part of the old 'Glyphs' that was run/owned ? by Spike. Hot Topics is part of the Garden Web empire that bought Glyphs, which they then tacked onto Garden Web without updating/modernising it.
If you check out Sheri's post of 9 Jan you will see the great long URL (ie web address) is really two joined together, by which she was able to log back on. Maybe this worked/might work for you. Mine is rather different, with a long string of numbers at the end . .. all very strange . ..

I haven't posted much because every time I visit the site I have to sign back in again. Even though I check the box to stay logged in, it doesn't work. It's very frustrating so frequently I just lurk, read the posts and then close the browser.

I noticed the inability to log in on Saturday and sent gardenweb an email so they would know. Also thanked them for fixing the edit button (that was corrected last week).
I am putting the link I use to log in with no problems.
