Please help with ID or alternative plant

I think I should have posted this here not in natives..........anyway, Hi there. I am new to this forum and I am fairly new to "organised landscaping"... I apologise if I am doing more "taking" than giving advice!!

My wife and I are just starting to landscape a couple of acres around our house, and like the layered look we saw in Bali a while back. We have been ok with finding alternatives for alot of what we liked, but are stumped on something that would be suitable like the attatched. Prefer something that isnt spikey......dont mind if it flowers...we are more after something mid sized plant with nice floppy leaves. Thanks for your time!!!!

My first thought were crinums - spider lily, though they do tend to go briefly dormant in late winter/early spring before they flower - and the flowers are a bonus.
I also thought of Neomarica (walking iris) - the white or yellow forms, which are smaller - though probably would not withstand full sun.
Or Curculigo capitulata - also just depending on what aspect there is in your intended spot.

Try some Clivia, they have strappy floppy leaves and provide some nice flowers too!

There's no rule saying you can't mix vegetables and ornamentals in the same garden. Furthermore, some gardeners line out ornamentals in the vegetable garden while they bulk up or until space becomes available elsewhere. Providing each has sufficient space and ornamentals do not interfere with cultivation and harvesting there is no problem.

Thank you very much for the ID's. The first one is near the spot where I saw the bad-looking P. mugo subsp. rotunda about which I asked an ID too. At first I though they were both the same species because they looked similar, but when I went too look closer then I could see the cones were definitely different. Funny part is that someone else suggested in that thread where I asked for an ID that it could be P. thunbergii. So I guess both trees are similar looking indeed. The second one I think comes from a hedge close-by that was (I think) never trimmed and therefore started producing cones. The third one is almost a miracle to me. Closest Abies koreana that I'm aware of is at least a few hundred meters away from where I found it. I'm very glad I dug it out too because A. koreana was also on my wanted list. :)

Agapanthus are very hardy. Clivea very nice but wont handle alot of frost

Yes your right depending where you live. In Brisbane they could be a weed however if u go with them (this post was awhile ago now so I assume you chosen something hehe) just chop off the heads after flowering and dispose in general waste, not garden waste.
