Carol, No I do not have Hermosa and had to look it up on HMF ( Shows that I am still a newbie regarding the antiques) Some of the images show a coloring similar to CRM. I have no room left so research, consider and maybe purchase is not an option:(. My suburban lot is not large, shy of 1/4 acre, and the footprint for our home and swimming pool takes up a lot of my gardening space in the backyard. Our prerequisite for the PDX area was 1/2 of an acre or more and a smaller home; especially with Heirloom being in the state:) Alameda, when you indicate that CRM is not a strong grower, what do you mean? In the past, I would identify roses that did not develop in the manner of their class, lacking foliage, keeping thin canes, or never achieving their appropriate size as weak growers. Mine is new so all I have to compare it to is rate of growth etc. Compared to other roses purchased as bands. I hope the two I have continue to perform well as I believe the coloring adds a little something extra to the roses and plants in the area. Lynn

Lisa, is your Poseidon own root or grafted. Mine is a grafted rose, which was planted in winter( July ) last year. It shot out 5' canes, but was very stingy with flowers. I don't think it lacked food or water as all the others in that bed were fine. Hoping it does better this year. Kate, Charles de Gaul has been and continues to be a great rose, although I do realise that our climates are dissimilar. My old fellow has been a survivor of a couple of droughts, when he was very sadly neglected, but still managed to flower, although not profusely. Now that conditions are better for the present, the flowering has returned to normal. The flowers are always lavender for me, never pinkish. By the way, mine is a grafted rose ( Dr Huey) Melodye

ARghhhh--I shall be pulling my hair. I finally get this vision of how to beautify two separate beds--a touch of lovely lavender in each one--and now I can't get it all to come together to accomplish that goal! I have solved the Love Song problem. Thanks to Nanadoll's suggestion, I remembered that just across the state border, about 30 miles away, is a larger city that actually sells lots of roses at one of the nurseries. Haven't been there in years, but it is not that big of a journey to get there. So I called them--no, they don't have it on order for Spring, but they would be happy to order one for me and reserve it for me for spring--1/2 price if I get there before they finish potting up the spring roses. Hallelujah! So I've got a Love Song. Thank you, Nanadoll! They couldn't get me the hybrid tea I wanted however. So now the choice of a hybrid tea is either get Charles de Gaulle at Palatine (in which case I need 2 more roses to fill out the order--but I have no spot for them) OR order Velvet Fragrance, gal. size from Heirloom--IF they notify me that they get it in for spring 2016. Velvet Fragrance is red, so obviously I'd be going for a very different look in that case, but it was what I was thinking about before the sudden yearning for lavender hit me, so that should be OK--IF Heirloom decides to sell it. So now I'm wavering between Palatine lavender or Heirloom red--both of which pose some problems. I was really surprised that there weren't more places selling Charles de Gaulle or Velvet Fragrance. Anyway, I appreciate all the help everybody has been offering. : ) Kate

No worries. Here at the Rose forum, we don’t mind if you mistakenly use an uppercase letter. Rather than its lowercase stereoisomer. Not everyone can boast of heritage arising from the Gauls. We’re cool with apostrophes too. Voice to text; we get it.
