South Texas winters don't reach 23F! Usually in the mid-40s. But with climate change and all, we've been getting wicked cold that has done well for my roses. Alright, enough thread hijacking. lol

From what I could gather from the HMF (and it looks beautiful, need to go hunting at my own HEB), it's lavender. In full afternoon sun here, lavender roses usually scorch and the fragrance lingers for a day or so. I'd advise you to plant it in a place that won't get the hot afternoon sun and instead get morning/late afternoon light. Also, you'll more than likely get the true colors (or better hues) during the winter because the sun will bleach the petals and make them more pinkish. Of course, you can see about planting it in the light shade and see how that goes.

I would grow him again! But I didn't have him long, because he was one of those maltreated big box store grafted specimens that came with too much canker.

I still thought he was very healthy for a lavender rose. New growth was about as healthy as a good, average HT. In my area he needed spraying for BS.

Mine wasn't very vigorous because of the canker, of course. The new growth did look strong and nice, though!

My favorite part was the form and color of the flowers :)

In our summers (hot!) the more lavender color came faster, like the same day. The blooms did not blow or get ugly too quickly, but I don't remember noticing that they lasted longer than most HTs, either.

I don't really grow old HTs anymore, because I like the healthiest, easy roses nowadays, lol. But I'd make an exception for him because of his color and fine health. Your dry climate should help a lot compared to mine!

He was the healthiest lavender HT I ever grew. I grew him in a bit of filtered shade, not the full all-day sun, because roses blow so quickly here and need so much water in those baking spots.

since we last got near to 0°C (32°F), I guess it didn't go through like that.

And I own some unidentified
lavender, a complete mess of a dog, it has that pink-bleaching problem in full
sun;

Still pretty, and fragrant, I'd just wish it wasn't so disease ridden, it's a bit repulsive to look at it sometimes: aphids, the honeydew that comes with them, mildew, canker, it only needs BS to have it all! Despite all my efforts, I think it is not suited for an organic garden, which is my intention, but I'll keep it for some more time, just to see if it matures somehow better.

Also what I think
might be Midnight blue, which shows it’s dark purple only in full sun, whereas
it is hot pink in shade.

have seen many lavenders on HMF varying much with the weather and light conditions, it can either
get more pink or more purple in the sun, as far as I know, depending on the
variety. That’s why I asked.

pink-ish and turns a truer lilac with sunlight? That sounds convenient all right!

I would have to find a spot with a bit of shade like you describe, I think. I have had one young bush bake to death
before, I wouldn't risk it with this one.

I am most likely getting it, I just
need to know, would it thrive in a pot? How large? For how long? I don’t have
any lawn at the moment, Everything I grow, I grow in containers. I've read it is a short bush,
reaching a bit more than a meter in height, with similar width...

No problem! Also, that dog of a rose looks to me like Blue Girl. The one I have also is danged disease ridden it's a wonder that it hasn't keeled over.
But to answer your question, I think most HTs can be grown in big (15 to 20 gallon) containers. Just need a bit more attention to them.
