Mystery flower for Easter????

I had asked Jamus if he would like to post a picture on my behalf but he hasn't been on here for a few days. Perhaps someone else would like to have a go in the meantime. It would be a shame to see the game end. Anyone? First in.....

If the flowers are brown and detach from the plant with a slight touch, it is simply that they haven't been subjected to mechanical means of disassociation (lack of wind). If they don't fall with a touch, check for the base of the flower and see if it is swollen. This could be a seed pod, or, like many times with these, a sterile fruit. My experience is that these pseudo-fruit never mature and they persist for a couple of years. It doesn't affect the plant leaving them or taking them off. If a lot of brown flowers are left, they are likely not attached and gently shaking the plant dislodges most of them.

No I don't buy flowers. I bought two big stuffed chickens and put them in baskets and they are my so called decorations. I couldn't resist them and they were brand new with tags and only $.10 each! Sue

I have never heard of a common name for Colquhounia. I suppose "Himalayan Mint Shrub" is as good as any, though really it tells you nothing more than it's a shrub, it's in the mint family, and it comes from the Himalayas. Boring! If Dee or plantsplus don't manage to post a mystery flower in the next few days, I suggest someone else should have a go. It's an activity that seems to revive interest in this forum. I remember 2-3 years ago we had the same sort of thing quite regularly.

Let's close this thread. The plant is Morisia monanthos (syn. M. hypogea)and is found in SW Europe. Forms a rosette and may only be a few cm tall. Monotypic genus.
