Many local governments (city, county) in the US offer subsidized compost bins to their residents. I've seen the Biostack, Earth Machine, and at least one other model offered. Sometimes you can even get a worm box from these offers! Prices here in the Bay Area for subsidized bins run approx. 1/3 of retail price, give or take, so definitely check it out. I think the Biostack is retailing for $99 to $129, depending on where you want to purchase it, so $200 should get you some nice goodies, even if you have to pay full prices. Enjoy! Cynthia H. The 'innards' of the one I saw were pretty rusty, but there was only one teeny rust spot on the lower drawer on the outside. Four burner gas - the left lid pulls up and slides back into a groove behind the burners. The drawers opened, but with horrible squealing noises. The store manager told me it was original and just removed from a local 1920's house. 'Mine' had different handles; they were an off white, possibly Bakelite. The oven handle was missing and they had the oven taped shut. I would love to put it in the dining room if we get it (if it is still there). The kitchen countertops are going to be green.

I thought I would share & show what I decided to do with upstairs landing...my husband said he didn’t want table in front of return vent so I went with smaller table I’m pleased with how it turned out love my new Home Sweet Home pic, put my Mother’s old chair with her throw ( l lost my Mother in Dec. 2016 to cancer the chair is very special to me) loving the new look on my landing. One picture is looking upstairs from my front door. Thank you all for your wonderful ideas & helping me to decide what I wanted to do.

Re: mtvhike Your father was right. You can actually use a higher set point because the latent cooling load (humidity) has been addressed through longer continuous run times. We feel more comfortable at higher temperatures because skin moisture evaporation is enhanced at lower relative humidity levels - even if temperature is higher. Cold and clammy doesn’t do it; it’s still uncomfortable. The best equipment would be variable speed compressor and fan coil that would drop down in speed and run at longer at lower capacities using less energy while addressing humidity and maintaining a constant temperature. The slower the air moves over the evaporator coil (dwell time) the more humidity is wrung out of the air at greater efficiency. High air flow over the evaporator coil reintroduces moisture back into the air as it doesn’t have a chance to drop out and be collected as condensate. Geothermal evaporators (or condensers, depending on the mode of operation) are generally different from that of air-source heat pump evaporators in that the geo heat pump condensers are wider or thicker, allowing for greater dwell times (air flow over or through the coil) at any given air flows than air-source heat pumps or air-conditioner. This is a benefit for either mode, heating or cooling but especially cooling due to enhanced moisture removal (latent cooling). IMPO SR
