Passionflower is used as a sedative for anxiety, most often brewed as a tea. Studies in Europe have shown that passionflower has antispasmodic, and sedative ability, and can lower blood pressure. Other researchers have found that one component of passionflower (passicol) has antimicrobial and antifungal properties.
