How would you place furniture in this room?
Comments (15)Jenswrens- I noticed that you put a door by the kitchen sink...does this go out to the garden? If you did put a walk-in pantry in the mudroom and expand that area a bit (as mentioned earlier) it might be fun to have a door from the screened porch into the mudroom and one across from it going outside (north side). This would give you the (west?) wall of the mudroom for a whole wall of storage. Have you ever seen those mudrooms with the storage and the high (clerestory?) windows above? Those are so nice, since you get lots of light, but don't lose any wall space :) You would also have the wall opposite (other side of the walk-in pantry for storage. If you took about one foot off the screened porch you could tuck in 10"-12" behind the door from the kitchen into the mudroom and have more storage. Narrow storage is perfect for cans, cookbooks, even pegs for coats, leashes, etc....See Moreseating in front of fireplace

Comments (26)So what are you looking to change in the kitchen? That's one area that I think you need to really focus on as that is the 1st impression when walking into you lovely lighthouse and what will help you ask for more $$'s. Do you have a budget to gut it? As now would be the time to do this. As far as the furniture. Start with doing an inventory of what you like and then determine if it is comfortable and practical for yourselves and guest and how many guest it would accommodate. Like your dining table only has 4 seats. Will that number reflect the number of guest that will be able to stay in your place? If you can let's say sleep 10 you want to be able to seat closer to that number at the table. Looks like there are only 4 possible seats where the TV is. You want to optimize the space for renting. If you live in a 2nd home area, you may find good finds on Craigslist and Face Book Market Place which will help with your budget....See MoreWhere would you place stacked stone on the exterior???
Comments (8)You could consider doing a clear cedar soffit underneath your eaves (and put in some nice recessed lighting as part of the project). If I were doing stacked stone on the front I likely would only do the full wall where your front door is located, which could brighten up/ add interest to that recessed area....See MoreJohanne Blansche Designs
