yes, a tree full of shoes!

Another Reborn doll that I made..

jeaninwa, do you know why all the shoes are in the tree? I have heard that shoes on a power line in front of a house mean that drugs are sold there. Hope that is not the reason for the shoes in the tree. It seems a shame to do that to a beautiful tree.
dianamo_1, your reborn doll looks so life like. The one you posted yesterday I thought was a real baby until I saw today's post that you made reborn dolls.

More shoes ... Buenos Aires in the Plaza de Mayo just outside Evita Perons's pink palace. Someone had to really work hard to get those shoes up there!

I didn't know the meaning behind the shoes on the lines...I just thought it was kids being kids....

AND, that isn't a real baby? You've got to be kidding...She's gorgeous...Now I have to go back and check yesterday's pictures.....

I think the shoes thrown over a line (or whatever) meant that someone has "moved on", either out of the neighborhood under better circumstances or by death? Will have to look it up.

dianamo, your dolls are amazing. I once watched a documentary about dolls. A grandmother so grieved the loss of her grandson after the divorce of her son and daughter-in-law, the mother taking the child miles out of state, that she commissioned a doll in the exact likeness of her grandson. That way she could still have him with her. I wasn't sure what to make of it, except to each his own. If it makes her happy, I can't seem the harm.

The shoe tree is merely an art statement...not saying there were no drugs involved..lol

As for the shoes over the powerlines meaning drugs are sold there..well, that would be rather stupid of them, now wouldn't it? To have "secret" advertising that even little old ladies know about.
My SO says it's done by bullies, beating a kid up and thowing their shoes over the powerline so they can't get them. I'd always thought it was stupid kids throwing their shoes in the air and..oops!

I saw that documentary, too.
Through the grapevine on a doll board I belong to, I have heard that the lady in that documentary now makes reborn dolls herself. And is very good at it! And the young girl that made the doll to look like that womans grandson got a lot of orders for dolls that she wasn't able to fullfil. She ended up going bankrupt and still owes a lot of money people put as downpayments on dolls she promised to make.

On a related note, this past summer I was shopping at ElderBeerman and a woman was pushing a baby buggy or a large stroller I can't remember. I looked inside and there lay sleeping was the most perfect baby I have ever seen. It actually reminded me of a preemie. I gushed over her. Thinking back, I'm wondering if I was looking at a "re-born"! :)
