Their colors were from the Peacock and this is what I came up with:

I love this patteren. I used BOB, WOW and Batiks. The size is like a super queen.

Thank you Magothyrivergirl! I really liked your choices for your birthday block this year! The picture really doesn't do it justice - the colors are much more vibrant.

The 2 'holders' are the older brothers of the groom :)

Marie, I love peacock colors!!! Great looking quilt and batiks seem to really be enhanced with a black background. Good choice!

The quilt is gorgeous. Those beautiful batiks are really set off by the bob background. Your nephew is very lucky.

I just finished the binding of the D9P Crumb quilt that Beverly quilted and need to get a label on it so that's on the agenda along with finishing the Yellow Ribbon Tree. Have top and bottom Yellow/White HST borders to put on and then a brown one around it. I thought it was going to be a wall hanging, but it sure is getting big to be used for that! Then, the quilting on Little Miss Thang's quilt needs to be worked on. I think I'm covered for the week-end. @:) Sharon

Oh my yes, I am doing a little quilting. A blue and cream quilt just popped up out of nowhere, LOL. I stole two of the September lotto blocks I fell in love with, and went from there. I decided to put a Carpeter's Wheel in the centre and use the blue jewel boxes around it, but may shift gears mid-stream. I am taking the smaller blue/cream scraps and instead of throwing them in a scrap sack, immediately sewing them on foundations blocks in a crazy quilt pattern. When the big quilt top gets done, I'll automatically have a smaller blue/cream crazy quilt done in the same fabric. This may get finished off as a welcome to the world gift for my newest step g'grandchild. We'll be going to the farm to spend the holiday for a cookout with my son and his family (just cross- country about twenty minutes). Aside from that, no plans for the long weekend. We are getting rains, yeah!

Wow! I checked back to see if anyone had posted yet, you guys are awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to post your good ideas..... the college color scheme would be a good idea but he doesn't know where he is going yet and at the pace he moves I'm afraid by the time he does know I wouldn't have time to finish a quilt! Thank you for the pattern suggestions, I'm going to look each of those up. I had considered the t shirt quilt but his Mom didn't keep any of those over the years. I made a rag quilt about 10 years ago, and I do love how heavy it is - -I remember losing my mind with all the cutting, but he would probably like that style too. I really appreciate all your ideas -- if anyone has anything else to add, please do so!

What did you use for the backing?

I opened this thread on my iPad & your quilt is absolutely gorgeous on that screen and I said, those are 'my blocks!'
then I read further. I am flattered that you liked my BD block & color choices to make such a special quilt. You really have made my day! I agonized over choosing a block & the colors last year-it was my 1st BD blocks to participate, and I really did not know how or what to choose. This is what makes joining in the BD Blocks so great (not to mention the fun of receiving blocks!).

Good Luck in school - and thanks again! I hope they love it.

Magothyrivergirl, I echo your statement about the BD blocks. W/the new year looming ahead, those not participating should seriously consider it!! We do have SO much fun! And the blocks DO make awesome quilts!!

Magothyrivergirl - I used a tie-die blue fleece. Everyone in my family wouldn't want anything but fleece - guess I spoiled them as babies with the 'softies' hehehe

It never fails to amaze me that just using one pattern of block, can have so much excitement with the colors used. Darn nice looking quilt.
