For people unsure of appropriate fabrics to send it may help to explain the purpose of an I Spy quilt-it's a recognition game to play with a child.

You say, "I spy with my little eye . . . a dog (or a pink bicycle, or shoes, etc.)." The child has to locate the item on the quilt.

I find larger motifs work better than small, busy patterns. I also like bright, crisp colors that draw a child's attention to the pictures.

There you have it: my I Spy philosophy. Worth price charged.

Cathy, before you cut more than you need to, it's 6 squares per set (of the same fabric). Each square should measure 6x6 inches.

You can send up to 8 sets. Only one of those sets can be holiday themed, and only one can be mixed.

I was thinking 8 each of 6, not 6 each of 8, and got confused. Everyone reading this can please disregard my earlier post.

I'm gonna look for a half-dozen all the same. The stash is definitely getting slimmer (that's the goal!)

dragon anything you want to send is fine. I am collecting fabrics for that 350 dollar quilt that Teresa made. I am going to make it in pinks, sage greens and light pale yellows. And Red or homespuns are always a winner in my book. Or whatever you have on hand is fine.

Mine went in the mail yesterday. Hopefully, early enough to compensate for having to beat the heavy security I'm sure it will encounter. Of course, since I sent it early it will probably take the fast track and be there by tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Amy - may I have your new address? Want to make SURE I have the right one. I'll put your special stuff in with the b-day block, as five weeks later the stupid homespun I ordered isn't here yet.

And I cut new blocks for the swap, as I couldn't find the 8 sets i'd cut and put away. Last print is in the washer, so I'll do it up tomorrow and get them on their way on FRIDAY.

My husband just left to mail my blocks but I don't think they will leave our town until tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting all those new fabrics. My collection is getting quite large. I think that like Kit I will make one of the "I Spy" quilts for myself using girlie fabrics altho' my girl days are long since over.

Hi Amy, I hope my package arrived in good shape and with the appropiate postage. I mailed it at the Village Post Office, and the (elderly) Post Master was having a terrible day. He got the postage wrong the first time, then he sealed it before I could add the postage to the retun envelope, etc... Please let me know if he got it all right, and if the package arrived intact. If something is a miss, I'll make it right.
