Do you go Christmas Caroling???

I would love to.

I would like to dress up like a "Christmas Carol" charactor.

A long green velvet skirt with a red jacket and white fur collar...with a fur muff.

I think that would be so fun...

And then I'd sing at the top of my Lucy Ball lungs...."S"

DS and his DW just came back from skiing in Breckinridge, and said Saturday nite, there were carolers up and down the street.

Went caroling when I was a young'un!
Never dressed up!

I remember going as a young girl with my church youth group and with the Girl Scouts. It's funny that I don't remember a lot from my youth, but I do remember caroling like it was yesterday!

Nope, not based on those lines. I've checked online, in my Carol songbook and well those lines just don't exist where I can find them. None of the versions I checked had those lines......then again I only checked the first three and the 6th one "The autocratic troika originating near the ascent of Apollo".....supposedly from "We Three Kings" because it just seemed so outlandish....:) Not trying to be nasty or anything, just finding that this game could possibly be one of those things that just keeps going because nobody actually checks its accuracy (Snopes anyone) Googling the lines seems to only bring up links to this game or a version of it NOT to any Christmas Carols....and the game has been going around for quite some time (prior to 2000). Years ago our Theater group went Caroling in a real small town. I remember it being terribly cold, and we were singing outside a house, when the local Barney Fife came speeding up to us lights and siren blazing, The little old lady who lived in the house, heard a "noise" and called hte police. He told us to move it along, and after that we had a hard time getting a song out....we were laughing so hard. Last week, I was preparing supper when I heard this pretty singing out in the hall. It was a group from a local Baptist Church where our grand son belongs and even though he lives, works and goes to collage in MPLS, he had asked them to visit us when they went caroling. I thought that was so precious.

Our community theater group went caroling in our very small town. We were singing outside of an elderly ladys house but she mis-understood our intentions and called the police. The Barny Fife wanta-be came speeding up with sirens blaring to chase away the "intruders" This happened abt 10 yrs ago, and havent gone since, but I still chuckle when I think about it.

I was a Vendor for many years at Galveston Dickens on the Strand. We had to dress in "Era" costumes. It was so much fun.

Yes, a group of us even went caroling in costume.

This appears to be a lost tradition around here as well, and so sad to see it go. We have our symphony chorale perform carols in the park for about an hour before the parade each year and people love it, they sing along whether Lucille Ball or Barbra Streisand! And it is all beautiful!

Our sorority used to go every year but it stopped about 10 years ago (long after any of our college days). One of the hubbies even used to rig up lights to his pick up truck. We all piled in the back of trucks and would ride thru neighborhoods singing.....I guess we stopped when we got too old to get in and out of the trucks easily.

I have gone several times, but it was years ago. We wore regular clothes. I would love to do it again!

We wear regular clothes drat, but our choir (and anybody else we can beg borrow or steal) goes every year....that is the only time of year when people are delighted to see me coming with my accordion :^) We always have lots of fun, and end up back at the house or the church for hot chocolate and cookies!!

I used to get together with a bunch of ladies before Christmas. We would rent a limo bus, load it with drinks and munchies and ride around looking at lights. We all had Santa hats. I remember we were riding through one of the fanciest neighborhoods and we saw a party going on in one of the very nice homes so we got out and sang. They were very surprised to look out and find a bunch of drunk women in Santa hats serenading them. I bet they're still wondering where the hell we came from.

That's the closest I've come and I wasn't actually drunk so I probably didn't add much to the singing.
