We're all moved in now! (PIC of new house)

We're loving the house - hating the total chaos of our stuff. :) And we're finding so many things that need replacing/repairing. There's hope in sight, though. Setting up is a lot of fun (the move wasn't - we are severely sleep deprived!)

I'm SO looking forward to decorating this place for Christmas. This is what we woke up to the morning after the move....

You're all invited to come for caroling and a bonfire / marshmallow roast in our backyard. :)

We're moving....now what about the roses?
Q

We are almost done with the same process, but not on such a grand scale! It's the best time of year, when things are dormant, to move them. We moved several figs, a small vineyard, and a few roses. Anytime you have to cut roots to dig them out, you need to cut the branches so that they don't die from lack of roots. They will do fine, even the huge ones!! I heard the word, "farm," and I wondered if the goat would eat your roses, but on recheck, you don't have a goat, right? Law School is well worth the money. My son went that route and is very successful. The key is to find a niche in which nobody in your town specializes. Then, you become the "go to" guy, and people from other towns come to you as your fame grows. He is in Southern California and has clients in Northern California as well. Being located in Wine country, he specializes in wineries and the legal issues of that entire sector. He also does real estate and contract law. You can make a ton of money as an attorney as long as you hang out your own shingle and work for yourself. Good luck with all of it! YepÂwe are a very small town but that is what we were looking for when we decided to move. Our "downtown" area has a small grocery store, hardware store, bank, post office, etc. The next bigger towns are Sterling and Dixon. We do a lot of our other shopping in Sterling because they have a Walmart and K-Mart plus a Menards. YouÂre correctÂJoliet has tripled its population in the last 14 years. It just too congested for us. Driving down Rt 52 is hazardous to your health. SamKaren your resident DJ

Wascolette- The tile is from Subway ceramics. The pics do not do it justice. It is beautiful, beautiful tile. Very well made porcelain tile. My tile guy even commented on how nice it is. The grout I used is "moonlight". It was the lightess gray grout that my tile guy had available. To everyone- thanks again for all your encouragement and positive thoughts. I'm in the medical field. I know there are a lot of people going through surgery every day. It's so different when it's the most important person in your life going into the OR. I appreciate all your kind words. A few more updates.. Within the last couple of days, two sapodilla seeds have sprouted, and just today, I saw that two of the Peruvian apple cacti had sprouted, but they were right behind the plant tag, and I didn't see them until moving the tag. I've also got some white pitaya (dragon fruit) seedlings that have been sprouting over the last week or so. I'd all but gave up on many of these things, but I guess there is some hope for things that haven't sprouted so far. Still hoping for some A. Reticulata, A. Squamosa, Mexican cream guavas, purple star apple, blackberry jam fruit, phalsa berries, and jujubes that I'd recently planted (after cracking the shell and soaking in hot water for several days, with several water changes) from a seedling tree I had. So far, I've also had 4 out of the 7 chestnut seeds sprout. So, the final number that will have sprouted will be between 4 and 7. I'll probably propagate them in larger numbers next season, as long as I can verify the type and where they were grown. If nothing else, I could use them as rootstock for grafting. Lastly, I planted out the new unframed no-till (back to Eden) raised bed with two cassava plants and five sweet potato plants. I'll probably go back in after all of this rain and flooding and fill in the area with peanuts as well. It has a higher sand content than any of my other beds.

Nice house Nicole. Looks perfect for you and your family. Love all that snow - I hope we get some soon. LOL Glad you moved in before it snowed like that.

I just found out where you moved. At least you can still get to Toronto if you need to by Go Train.

Hi hi hi! Sorry I haven't checked back in here. We're loving the house. We've done a lot of repairs and painting (I'm covered in paint right now as I type, actually), and it's getting nice and cozy and homey. I especially LOVE our basement classroom setup. We're not completely unpacked yet, even though we've been here a month and a half now. There are still a few boxes scattered around that we're taking forever to unpack. Hopefully in the next week or two.

I'll post inside pictures soon.

Love the Harry in the window, Kat. :) Sigh.
