my parents 56th wedding anniversary. Dad died 3 1/2 years ago. I don't think a day has gone by that I haven't thought of him. Sometimes I laugh out loud reminiscing, other times my eyes fill with tears. Sure do miss that man!

Moonie, I know how you feel. It's been almost three years since my mom left us. She took a turn for the worse in December 2004, but managed to hang on until January 12, 2005. I sure do miss her this time of year. Actually, every day. Just like you, some times tears, some times laughter.

Moonie, I know where you're coming from. My first wife, Mary, loved Christmas. She'd be as giddy as a little kid this time of year. We were married on the 27th of Dec. The church was beautiful with all the poinsettias and other decorations. She died of cancer 16 years later on Dec. 30th. That was 11 years ago and this time of year is still tough to get through. Hugs to you, moonie, I'll be thinking of you.

Christine and Annette, The Heathen bought me an electric Mantis last year. I love it. It is tiny but very powerful and does everything you want a tiller to do. Has two sets of tines, so for narrow spots, I just pull the pins, remove one set, replace the pins and away I go! (this makes it easy to clean too) It has a depth lever on the back, so you can set how deep you want it to dig. I bought 100 ft of extension cord for mine, so I have plenty of length to reach my veggie garden up on the hill. The electric is much lighter than the gas tiller, and costs less too. Hold the handle, flip the switch, and away she goes. No yanking. You do have to be careful not to get the extension cord tangled in the tines, and I have to tie the extension cord to the handle or it comes unplugged, but other than that, it's a sweet deal! I also love old photos. My family is Italian, Sicilian, actually. I believe the group photo was taken at my fathers' father's parents home, they lived in Brooklyn at the time this photo was taken. From L-R in the rear is my GF's father, GM father, GF. Next row, GF sister, GM. Next GM mother, my Dad, GF mother. Front GF brother (he had two, the one not pictured was probably in the war at the time) and I don't know who the other man is. My father is one of four siblings, two brothers and a sister. One of his brothers is just 6 years older than me! My grandparents were actually 1st cousins, as their fathers were brothers. My GF looked EXACTLY like his father when he got older, and my younger daughter resembles my GM a lot, in the eyes and nose. It's amazing how genetics pass on, isn't it? The baby photo of my Dad has a very, very strong resemblance to his sister as an adult. My GF parents passed away shortly after I was born, so I never got to know them, but I was fortunate to spend time with my mothers parents; her mom lived to be 100, and my Grandmother is still alive.

I do that same thing on my mothers and brothers birthdays. It's tough though because I have strong memories of both me and my brother paying respects to mom and now it's just me paying respects to both my brother and mom . My thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours

Christmas is a time for remembering. I miss so many but am so glad they were in my life for a time.

December is a hard month for many of us, isn't it? My older daughter's birthday is December 28th and today I was smiling as I remembered how she hated getting birthday presents in Christmas gift wrap!That was one of her "pet peeves" from the time she was five. LOL She died of cancer six years ago. I still miss her so much! Hugs to all of you who have loved ones who aren't here with us.( I like to think they are still with us in spirit.) Bettye

I said "Hi Dad" out loud tonight, as I closed the blinds in my living room. As I looked outside into the sky, here is this big ole bright full moon. I've mentioned here before my Dad always called them a Farnam (our last name) Moon. He died 10 years ago November 2. I still miss him like you all miss your loved ones. I laugh at time, and cry at others.
