I wear an apron when I'm doing a lot of cooking around the holidays. I don't usually wear one unless I have on nice clothes and don't want to take the chance of staining them.

I still have the apron I made in grade 7 sewing class. I don't use it, but I have it. :o) I also have 2 others, but they just sit folded in the drawer. I don't mind if my clothes get dirty when I'm cooking or baking. That's what my washing machine is for.

Have never owned an apron.

I have 4 (3 fulls and a blue jean half apron) and do wear them if I am working in the kitchen and dressed nicely.

I have one...but I never really liked using it. It was too stiff. So, it is "somewhere", not sure where. I should wear one because I always seem to wipe my hands on my clothes.

When I was younger I wouldn't wear pretty pastels around the house because of stains from cooking and clean. Now I wear a full apron and wear what I like.

I used to cook weekly for senior adults. They loved seeing what apron I would wear. I have maybe 24. I still wear one when cooking.

Debbie, I made an apron in 8th grade Home Ec. It took me sixth months because my teacher kept making me rip out the hem. She just wanted it a small rolled hem. I'm sure she meant well but definitely turned me against sewing. I finally finished it at the end of the year. It had a scalloped bottom and I thought it just beautiful. It was suppose to be for my mom, but I lost it before I got home!

Glenda, it must be special to still have your mother's apron....I might have my mother's if I hadn't lost it.

I have a ton of them, but never wear them. Years ago a girl friend and I used to make them and sell them at a local flea market. We did quite well with them but now not many use them anymore. I'll have to pull some out and maybe use one once in a while.

I usually do, but right now, they are in storage like just about all my stuff. :(

Sometime, I will go back to regular and having my stuff.

Only occasionally, but I should wear one more often because, like Vicki, I tend to wipe my hands on my jeans.

My mother was saved by her apron. She was canning beans one summer day, but fortunate for her, she was wearing a heavy work apron and mits for lifting the hot jars our of the canner. She had just removed a boiling jar of beans and screwed the lid on tight when it broke (exploded?). Her front was doused with boiling liquid, but she was spared large burns. The apron and mits provided protection. She did recieve a few scalds on her arms beyond the perimeter of the mits, and that was the extent of her injuries. That was a close call. She credited her apron.

I have 4 aprons. One of them is a Christmas apron and a couple others were prizes for chili cook-offs at work. The fourth one came from who knows where! Anyway, I wear them occasionally, generally when we have family coming over for a meal and I want to stay clean until they get here :-)

I have the apron I made when I was in 4-H, I think I was 9 years old and I also have the aprons I had made my Mother over the years. I don't wear them. I really want to make up some more as I think they are so cute and pretty. I have all these patterns and all this fabric....sigh.

I don't, but I should. I have ruined a lot of clothing in the kitchen. I think I will ask Santa for one! I'm a 'wiper' too!

Last year a grocery store offered a "FREE" black apron when you purchased $30 of angus beef. I now have 2....still in the package, never opened!

Every morning, and when I am doing a lot of cooking/prepping. I wear it in the morning so I don't mess up my work clothes when preparing lunches/breakfast. And I keep it on while I am sitting and reading the paper. That way if Max or Ruby (pugs) or Skywalker (kitten) want to sit on my lap I won't get MORE covered in fur LOL. Also, if Max or Ruby leave a fish oil it is on the apron and not my work clothes.

Much easier to toss the apron in the wash than it is to change an entire outfit right before work.

I have several aprons, and the more colourful the better. I have my eyes on several that have sayings. Like "Talk Nerdy to Me" and "Come on over to the dark side. We have cookies". Tee hee!

I have a couple of pinnies and use this one the most. It's reversible. I also have a half-one, denim with flamingos on the ruffle, that Jenni sent me. I love wearing one, it really protects my clothes.

I wear a bib apron even to just prepare my lunch. Then I leave it on while I eat because my chin definitely has a hole in it somewhere.

I love aprons! I still have my first apron, from the mid-60s; Grandmother gave it to me when she began teaching me to cook.

I have several lovely apron patterns; I like the bib to be wide and high so I don't get the "dribbles" if I taste test!

Sadly, my house, my sewing room, and myself have been in a state of chaos for so long that I've not been sewing much. Etsy has once again come to my rescue. Two young cookie-chefs in my family are receiving extra-special aprons this year; a friend who does 'meals-on-wheels' type cooking for her Church also got a heavy-duty work apron.

Here's the apron for the 5-year-old. Some of the flowers on the cupcakes have hot-fix crystals on them! The ruffle, top pocket, and hot pink lining are pre-shrunk cotton flannel.

Here's the one for the 7-year-old. The bib is lined with a lovely white-print fabric too.

And the one for my friend who cooks for her Church's missions.

I have a fabulous, colorful apron that a friend who is an expert and creative seamstress made for me. It may sound odd, but I feel special when I wear it!

I have some,but havn't worn them in quite awhile as dh does most of the cooking.

However i bought my GGD a set of dishes for xmas and i'm going to make her and her mom matching aprons,She loves all the girly stuff.

Yes I wear them; I am a messy cook. I think aprons are "trendy" now.

I do wear one when cooking big meals and baking.

Grandma wore an apron. I think she must have put it on at breakfast and wore it until after the noon dishes were done.

Hers had to have pockets. She would pick up things like coins, rubberbands etc. that were out of place and deposit them where they belonged as she cleaned and dusted.

I have quite a few and use them pretty often. Some of the special ones are:

(1) DGM's work apron. She made it for working in a packing house. She made it of denim with three pockets across the front and some decorated red bias tape around the edges and to top the pocket's edge.

(2) I was asked to make a "water-proof" one for the dish washer in a local coffee shop. I bought the marina-grade Naugahyde and made it really long like I was asked. When I took it to them they had bought one somewhere else and didn't want to pay the $25. so I kept it and shortened it to fit me. I use it when I use bleach.

(3) a very frilly pink one that I bought two years ago from Hancock Fabric. They were selling aprons with the appropriate pattern. The patterns were all reprints from the 50's & 60's. I bought a pattern from the same year I was born.

Most of the others are all collectors items from the 50's with chicken-scratch embroidery on them. L.marie

Yep. Just last year I decided I wanted to wear an apron. I'm sick of getting grease splatters etc on my tops.

A lady made me one but it's too tight, so I passed it on.
I found a new barbecue style at Value Village for $4. I really like wearing it. I'm on the hunt for a second one, bibbed as well.

What I *don't* like is the D-ring. I wish they would just tie at the neck. I've got the tail dangling in front and it gets in the way.
Am I tying it wrong?
