DH and I are alone on Christmas Eve, but I'll try to convince my brother to join us for dinner (he's only 8 miles away).

Christmas Day has been 12-20 over the last 6 years; however, we learned last night that there will be only 6-7 of us. Makes it cozier and much less hassle for me. DH's DDs are loving it, as they don't like coming here when there is such a big crowd.

So, the short of it is DH and I will be home both days.

We're staying home too, just me and the kids. I'm with Terri, Glenda had the right idea! Went out shopping today for something to wear to a funeral tomorrow and it was 20 degrees out!

I'll be home on Christmas day, joined by my kids and their SOs and my DGD in the afternoon.

There will be at least 14 of us and maybe greatgrandson too.

Christmas Eve is my cousin Keith's birthday...he will be 62 this year...We always get together on his birthday..and we also exchange Christmas gifts with several of them.

It's like having a couple of Christmases...

I just hope I'm ready...two more days and I'm not even close...but my foot is better...taking that med for inflamation seems to help...it still hurts but with my cushy insert and cushy croc...I can get around ...just slow.

Tomorrow I will make two pecan pies, and Deviled eggs. If I can manage it I will also make Spritz cookies.

We'll be home Christmas Eve, Caryn, Dean and I. We are having all kinds of munchies and watching movies. Then on Christmas Day we go to the movies in the theater. We have done this for many years. We won't have our family Christmas until the 4th. Then Dean's son and DIL will come from Minneapolis, Kalie & Mike will be here from Des Moines and Caryn will come the 4.5 blocks to our house too. I am looking forward to having all the kids together, hasn't happened since last Christmas.

DH and I will be at home. Both sons have to work the day before and the day after, so they're staying in their respective states, OR and WA. We are going to our favorite bistro in Carmel for dinner, then to stroll up and down Ocean Ave. (it's like the Easter Parade there on Christmas Day). Also, we'll be on the phone with and emailing the children.

This is the first year in a long time that we are either home alone or not traveling. We are cocooning, and enjoying it!

DS is here from CA. We will be staying home where it is warm. He went ice skating today with a young friend of mine.

Just me and my son. It is always a very quiet day around here. We will have Christmas Eve with my daughter and her family. The boys open their presents then and I get to be in all that chaos.

We're staying put this year. Christmas Eve with the in-laws (about 5 minutes from here) and Christmas Day with my step-sister and family (5 minutes in the other direction). Next year we will spend Christmas with my sister in Ontario.

We are staying home this year. No kids at all are visiting. I have been staying in my own environment to avoid any kind of virus or colds etc. I start my third round of chemo tomorrow and cannot afford to run the risk of being sick. My white count is very low but so far I have avoided any shots or transfusions so we are staying put. We actually are looking forward to a nice quiet Christmas.

Had all the family from Florida visit at Thanksgiving For Christmas, we (my husband and 13 yr. old DD and kitty) are staying put! Noone coming and we're not moving an inch! It should be kinda nice... We all need to de-stress a bit and some quiet should be good.

I'm going only as far as Shawnee. (that's about 30 minutes)

We'll be home too, Moni. Me and hubby and the nine dogs ... they're getting anxious for Christmas! They've been my 'taste testers' for holiday baking and so far, they approve of everything! LOL! I love an easy-to-please group.

We always stay home at Christmas. DS and his GF will be over in the morning to have breakfast and exchange gifts...they may be going to DS's dad's for dinner, but if not, they'll be with us. We'll spend a very relaxing day...just the way we like it ;o)

I will be staying home with the Grandchildren. My son and DIL will be going to her Aunt's for dinner, but no children are allowed, so I will have fun with the grandchildren.

My sisters and I and our families get together on Christmas Eve at one of our homes and then everyone goes their separate ways on Christmas day (i.e. their inlaws, etc.).

I would rather be home this year anyway since I lost my husband in November, it will be kind of a sad day anyway.

dh & i are staying home this christmas, thou for most previous yrs we usually fly to chicago to see my family. boy are we glad we are NOT travelling for once this holiday season w/ weather outside of FL being what it is LOL! and of course it's in the 80's here LOL.

we just got back from a week long caribbean cruise and i am going to make this my usual holiday travel from now on. i will be doing everything in my power to get both sides of our families to go on holiday cruises from now on. it's soooo easy, everything is planned, guaranteed good weather plus they all get wonderful warm weather compared to their usual fare. we would all get to see each other, all have to deal w/ travelling (instead of DH & I always being the travellers), all get the benefits of cruising while getting to see our families....everyone is getting on royal caribbeans mailing lists this yr LOL ~ liz

All 4 of us, including Elvira the dog, are staying home. We have stayed home almost every year since we were married 31 years ago. The one Christmas we went back to the Midwest 25 years ago, DH got stranded in an airport because the planes were grounded and it was the only Christmas we spent apart. We went on different days because of work schedule. And it was freezing cold with tons of snow, like right now, and I got very sick. So we said never again! If family wants to be together they can come out to sunny CA, but they never have.

I will be home the entire time. The university where I work will shut down between December 24th through January 2nd. I am going to take a few days after that as vacation days; I will return to work on January 9th!!

I have a brand new sewing machine and can't wait to start quilting...or try to "learn" how to quilt. I also love being home at this time of year.

We will be home on Christmas and have Christmas via phone with our daughter and family, and with my sis. We are too old to travel any distance any more. Christmas Eve day afternoon will be spent with friends who live about 45 minutes away.

We started a tradition with good friends across the lake. Christmas Day we go to a Chinese restuarant for dinner.

This will be our first Christmas with just the two of us.We moved half way across the country to the east coast this summer,so all our kids and grandkids are in Ontario.We do talk and see each other on Skype quite often which helps a lot.
We will hopefully watch our grandkids open their gifts via Skype.
As for Christmas dinner,we are invited to my cousins house which is within walking distance,They're a beautiful,loving family and we always have fun visiting them.
Christmas eve we'll be staying home,but expect cousins and friends to drop by,so I'm preparing finger foods ahead of time so I can relax and enjoy the evening.
My kids are all gathering at my daughters house in Ontario,thankfully they all live close to her.My kids are very close so I'm sure they'll do just fine without mom and dad,although to hear them talk they're missing mom and dad soooo much.

this was a very good thread to start..i was just reading about the safety part of letting someone know where you are going to be. im staying home with my mom and dad we dont even have a tree this year..well i do kinda have a tomatoe cage with lights on it in my window lol we are supposed to be having sleet and freezing rain after midnight then rain. i wish this darned weather would make up its mind! below zero windchills yesterday and 40 tomorrow!! i hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday and enjoys themseves and each other immensely! merry christmas kters love logger

I will have family over for Christmas eve and be alone (with my 2 dogs) on Christmas day - my choice. Since my husband died 20 months ago, I just need the time to reflect on my blessings in peace.

We'll be here, along with DS no 2. DS no. 1 came here on Friday and we had Christmas with him, then he went back to Ky yesterday.

DH and I will be here alone for most of the day.My oldest son and his family will be over later in the day.

Like Ruthie i had Chemo tuesday,so i don't go out very much,don't want to catch anyone else's germs.I also found out on monday that i'll be having 6 chemos instead of the 4 i thought i was having.Bummer,but i'll do what i have to do to kick this cancers butt.

DH is making cornish hens and i don't know what else for dinner.He takes very good care of me.

I already talked with a few of my GK'S in other states,and will be talking with my family in N.Y.state later in the day.

It's cold,windy and rainy here in not so sunny S.Calif.

We're home alone and happy as clams. Woody's gone fishing twice today so he's happy and I'm goofing off and sewing and happy, too. Love these no-pressure holidays!

I have happily spent my day with my dogs - working in my yard. It's 80 degrees and sunny, so it was just delightful here today! I only wish my deceased husband could have been here to enjoy this beautiful day with me.

We are home alone too and happy about it. We love having the kids but they are doing the holiday with their other Mother and I am thrilled for them. I didn't have chemo yesterday as planned since my blood counts were too low. They gave me a shot to force my body to make white blood cells and it is fair kicking my but. I have been dragging around trying to get up enough energy to move from one chair to the next.

Home here too, but would give my eye teeth to be on the boat with Glenda.....woo hoo!!

Might as well have been home alone today, only I wouldn't have worked quite as hard and would probably have enjoyed it more.

Busted my rear making a nice Christmas dinner for DH, which he finished in five minutes and went back to his garage to "putter." So then the kitchen had to be put back together. Nothing from him all afternoon, until the call, "what have you got in mind for supper?" Fed him again, and at 6:50 he goes to bed. Granted, his back hurts because he spent too much time on his feet "puttering" but sheesh! My kids are 3,000 miles away and busy with their own family and traditions, but I would really have liked a call. I am their only mom and grandma, after all!

Okay, pity party over. It wasn't a bad day, after all, and tomorrow I get to go to work. YAAYY! And DH will take me out for Mexican food tomorrow evening.

I was home till around 4:30 and decided to come to work and give a more junior flight attendant the day off...we were done with Christmas by noon...now I'm sitting here in San Francisco waiting to go back to Atlanta!!

We are very fortunate to be able to stay home and host parties both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We have the whole family over and it is always a very nice gathering. Today I am TIRED, though. lol
