I decided to save time and buy frozen dinner roll dough.
The tenderloin steak was "resting" and I got the package of rolls out of the freezer...read the package to see what temp to set the oven, only to find out that it had to thaw for 1 1/2 hours.

No rolls at dinner this year.

But, you know what? no one seemed to miss them.

Of course, my disappointment was in not being able to go to family celebration at home of DD#6, due to the weather. It was a quiet evening, with local DD and her DH. We went to church, then came back here to ribs and homemade noodles,etc. It was very quiet, compared to our usual houseful of people. But I'm very glad we didn't venture out on the highway in this weather. I think the biggest disappointment was in not getting to see DGD and her new husband who just flew in today, and will have to get back o his post on Monday. Well, at least they got safely to the Metro area, and are celebrating with the family that can make it to the party.

Well, DGD just phoned and put me on the speaker phone, so I could hear them all and wish them a Merry Christmas, and now I want to cry.....but in a good way!

Only that my dad couldn't come due to the freezing rain. It made this holiday all the tougher as a transition year.

Today was pretty good but our daughter lapsed into her typical disrespectful behavior last night and ticked me off, again!! Really pretty minor, though, if you look at the big picture!

Snow, instead of rain, would have made it feel more like Christmas day here.

Ours was quiet, just the two of us today, Yesterday DS, Radio Dokktor and DGS, Willy came over ( we had a convienient break in the snow) and they brought their guitars, they played some beautiful Carols. We all spilled some tears sharing our memories of DDIL, known to most of you as Dirty fingetnails, who we lost in June. The first holodays after a loss is so hard. Oh, yes, and Dok made scallops Alfredo with seafood salad, I made my roasted cherry romatoes and we enjoyed a little wine. It was a sweet and sad day. I hope you-all had a peaceful Christmas, Dottie

As we celebrated last night, so the grandkids and great GK could get back safe today, it is quiet, and not most of the roads in ND are closed tonight, so I would rather have people stay home than take chances.

It was a really nice christmas day this year!
So quiet and peaceful.
No coping with storms, snow, ice, driveway.

It was a beatiful sunny day, bit of a wind, my dad and dog and I had a great walk in town.

I had a great meal by myself and just so full of love.

Its been the best day ever!

Yes, we had to change to Plan B because of the weather.

Plan A was for my family to meet here at 1:00 pm today for dinner, games including Dirty Santa, etc. It has rained and the roads are icy, so we changed to Plan B which is tomorrow at noon. The current forecast is for partly cloudy.

As a result I have had trouble remembering that today was Christmas! And since my DGD was bringing turkey, etc. I was planning on having leftovers for dinner this evening. Instead I had a PB and J sandwich. Bah Humbug!

Oh, well, such is life! Better to stay safe.

well i've given up on cooking w/ chestnuts unless they come in a jar from williams-sonoma lol. my one and only previous cooking disaster/disappointment came 20+ yrs ago when i convinced my mom to let me make a new stuffing recipe using fresh chestnuts. i had searched high & lo in chicago to find those fresh chestnuts but everything went bad when i had to microwave them then peel them. they kept exploding...ruined the stuffing lol.

this yr i easily found fresh chestnuts but after boiling them(no way i'd try the microwave lol), then peeling i found almost every one was moldy! i made the chestnut & sausage stuffing w/o chestnuts and it was actually very good lol. even my dh who does not eat or like stuffing liked it, even more than i did!

but i'm still giving up on chestnuts lol! other than that it was a wonderful day :-) ~ liz

Our day was too quiet. Saw my dad and his wife, and my brother yesterday. Freezing rain was predicted today, but didn't happen. I did laundry and DH cleaned up his home office space just a little (he would say a lot, LOL) We did have roasted chestnuts - only one was moldy.

I can't complain, because we leave tomorrow for a four day trip to Richmond and points south. I go back to work on Thursday.

I always check the My Page of a new poster to see where they are from. I see you are in Arlington. I lived there for many years (many years ago) and graduated from W-L High School.

As stated by many above, we were disappointed because of the weather. Our grandson was at our house and we were having such a good time with him. We were to take him home on Christmas Eve and stay until mid day Christmas....because of the weather, we had to take him home Tuesday and cancel our travel plans on Christmas and Christmas Eve....I was a little depressed yesterday :o(

Don't you hate when the weather changes the plans at Christmas time? In our family we don't care when or where we have Christmas just so we are all together. The kids and grandkids all came Christmas eve and we went to all their homes yesterday to see what santa brought. Two long days but so much fun.. We are blessed...

No disappointments here and something to look forward to as DB and his family plan to to come from Texas next year for Christmas.

I thought my knees were getting significantly better, but it must have been all the aspirin I was taking. They weren't so good when I woke up this morning, plus my wrists hurt, too. And I learned that the metallic (I would have said plastic) taste in my mouth could be a symptom of rheumatoid arthritis. So that was disappointing.

I received a new bathroom scale for Christmas, and I stepped on it this morning. That was disappointing, too. LOL

It's raining, and washing all the snow away.

Ours were minor. There used to be a channel on TV that broadcast a roaring fire 9am-12pm Christmas morning. As a joke one year we turned it on, and it somehow got to be a tradition. (We don't have a fireplace in our house) My 5 year old was really looking forward to it. We turned on the channel but no fire :(

My niece and nephew are coming up from Alabama tomorrow and have only seen "real live" snow once. We got 2 feet last weekend, but after last night's downpour of rain and warmer weather most has washed away. I wanted them to get to see a little of it again!

My 5 year old got some cute fuzzy slippers and they are already falling apart after an hour of wearing!! ARGH!!

We had our first white Christmas that I can remember in Texas. It was really pretty but my husband had an accident driving home after dropping a friend at the airport. He slide on some ice and couldn't stop. Luckily he wasn't hurt but our van doesn't look so hot.

No disappointments! Just a nice white Christmas with quality time spent with husband and daughter.

MY dissappointment was my arm/hand.Have been having trouble with it since before t'giving.My Dr.,doesn't know what is causing it.I at first thought i was getting lymphadema,but that has been ruled out.Dr thinks it may have something to do with the muscles and tendons,because of the amount of nodes removed.I thought maybe it was that also,but now i'm wondering if it could be side affects of the meds i'm on,2 of them say they can cause muscle.joint pain among other things.

Have an appt this wednesday with a physiotherapist again,so we'll see.In the meantime i can't use my right arm/hand for anything and it hurts.I can't even put the foot rest up on my recliner.Sad huh?? I know others have it a lot worse than i do,so i try not to dwell on my pains.
