Kids are all gone....

guess I'll get in my pjs and read a book. I have two waiting for me...well, three if you count the one I haven't finished yet. I bought Molokai after reading about someone else reading it here...went to Amazon.com and looked it up. Just went to Kroger and saw the new Dean Koontz book and bought it too, since it was discounted 40%.

My house is quiet now. Dishwasher so loaded, I have to handwash the rest.

I'll get an early bath, watch whatever on tv. Son asked me if I would like to him and his crew for church in the morning, he's never done that, so I'll go.

Hopefully we'll get a bite to eat before my boys head to the hunting club for next week.

I love Dean Koontz books too, Kathleen. I think he is originally from this area, Bedford county somewhere.

Wow, that sounds really great, especially the rent! A house payment, insurance and taxes would certainly be a lot higher. Plus, that special asset, no maintenance. I say you're a lucky girl.

Am I the only one who would just buy more juice? I think that teenage boys require a whole lot more food than a 10 year old girl does. I've always had lots of food in the house. Fruit and veggies cut and ready to snack on, various chips and snacks and I usually bake cookies or brownies once a week. There is also a big bin of candy in the kitchen. My kids (girl 19, boy 15) have always just sort of balanced their own diets with the choices we have day to day. I always ended up tossing their Halloween candy at Christmas, their Christmas candy at Easter...etc. That said, I think If their habits were different I suppose I would limit some things. My son right now is just about to turn 15, he is 6'2" tall and weighs in at about 150 pounds. I'm trying to find ways to get him to eat MORE! Nothing like making French toast every morning at 5:45. He probably drinks a half gallon of OJ a week, a big Powerade every day, lots of water and about a half gallon of milk a week. (he plays football). For lunch he has a big turkey sub, chips or pretzels, a cookie or brownie, red peppers cut up, a granola bar and DH usually tosses in a snack sized candy bar. This has to last him from lunch until after practice, when he usually has something small, then we have dinner around 7. It's been funny over the years when other kids visit they don't quite know what to do. But the carrots and red peppers go just as fast as Chex Mix and chips when they're playing football or swimming. The cookies are another story. In the summer when all of his friends are around I make about 2 dozen a week. Beth P.

AnnT, I'd be so indebted to you if I could get another copy of your cookbooks. I don't want any of you to tie up your computer or go to a lot of time and trouble. I forgot that I've saved several recipes on that feature "My Clippings" so I'm good for some stuff. I think I have Ann's scone recipe there. I'll have to go look. My grand kids are on the way back here. The wedding must be over...

Lori and Doug will go out for New Years Eve... and the kids stay here overnight.

Tomorrow is the first ride of the new year... and Lori and Doug are joining us... they will ride Mel's tandem, while Judy will watch the kids.

Lynn, the only thing I've heard is that she's doing ok at the new place.

Moni, hope you have a nice ride tomorrow. We saw a guy on a bike, one of those ones that are low and recline yesterday on the way to Lexington, and it reminded me of you-lol. Everytime I see a bike rider I think of you. He was all wrapped up and it was cold out. I thought he must be freezing but then he was biking...so maybe not, maybe he was getting enough warmth just from the exercise?

Kath, everyone at work feels sorry for me, on the days I ride to work. I find it to funny, cause those are actually my BEST days. I got to ride.... and I get paid to do their "dirty work". LOL, can't get any better...

I rode this morning too. no, we usually are not cold. We make heat... from the exercise part of the ride.

My dad had a recumbent bike. He passed away in 1998 and the bike is long gone. He used to ride several miles a day.
