What's for dinner Wednesday?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired. Went with Harry to have his blood work done, came home and did a little cleaning, made out our grocery lists and after Harry's nap we went to the store. Putting all that stuff away is so damned tiring. I just hate that part. You'd think I'd stop buying so much, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I bought a sub for dinner. Publix has had this turkey/cranberry sauce/bacon/provolone sandwich on special this month and they are really, really good. We always eat and watch "Jeopardy" at the same time :-)

What are you having--and are you as tired as I am?

I did my grocery shopping today at WalMart and no confec sugar, and only large bags of suger. Went to Publix, senior day, and got the sugars.

Fixing to head into the kitchen to make a double recipe of white chili.

Oh, Johnny Ray's for lunch: chopped mixed pork, no sauce, with baked beans and potato salad

I'm soooooo tired, too. I know what you mean about the groceries. I hate putting them away, too. I'm having a bowl of fruit and some cottage cheese. Today was my neighborhood luncheon. I made egg drop soup, egg rolls and sweet and sour pork. A tray of cookies for dessert. DH will have some of the sweet and sour pork for dinner.

I'm not a sweets eater, either, but love warm ginger bread with lemon hard sauce or whipped cream. I think I see some in my near future! Angelaid, I do leave the skins on the sweet potatoes. Getting a real recipe from me is rare, lol. I so often invent toss this and that together. For the glaze, I mixed some peach jam, chili sauce, a bit of apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. The peach was the primary ingredient. It would be good with apricot or even apple jelly or jam, too. Thank you for the cookbook recommendations, Alisande.

I'm donating blood tomorrow, so last night I had spinach. Tonight I'm having liver. Plus a multi vitamin. Because my diet has sucked lately. I just hope it's enough to get my iron up so I can donate. #26!

Sue, BLT's are so good! I'll have to buy some bacon and do that. Shirley, I didn't know that Ponderosas were still around. I'm glad that your dinner companion made up for the so-so food. OF, frozen pizza and Kool-Aid. Interesting combo Jim, bbq wings are good without the sauce! Even better with home-grown and CSA grown veggies. Raven, gotta love leftovers. We have leftovers regularly, as I don't know how to cook enough for just 2 people. Rhizo, I usually make pancakes from scratch with flour, egg and sour cream. Could I just use buttermilk in place of the sour cream?

Great meals as usual!!! Shirley, aren't leftovers grand? No thinking of what to cook and easy cleanup. Phyllis, it's nice to take something handy and put your own touches in it. Susan, I had to laugh at you taking yourself physically away from the kitchen to avoid eating more. I agree, the packaged meals are definitely portion-control! Pam, leftover lasagna sounds good! Especially with your snowy weather. Raven the rotisserie chickie and your sides make a great meal! Angela, your dinner sounds so good. I really like the idea of the pasta and shrimp salad. Cherryfizz your meal made my mouth water. Did you use chicken breasts?

Still haven't decided what to have for supper and it's near 7:30pm. Pizza sounds good but it can be so expensive around here, esp. to have one delivered. The only pizza place, East of Chicago Pizza, in our small town burned down this Fall. :(

My back has been out since Sunday so I am not up to doing much, I have a nice thick ham steak I will throw in a frying pan and heat up along with some cream corn and crowder peas. I think I can manage that.

I made sausage lasagna with a layer of fresh spinach. I served it before it'd set up....:0) Tomorrow it will be firmer...

A bowl of vegetable soup out of the freezer and a cup of hot tea.....I'm coming down with a horrible cold; scratchy throat and runny nose. Nice for the holidays, isn't it? I'm going to bed and cover up hugely.

We had some meatballs with a side of spaghetti and salad.

Whew! Patti I too, am pooped! Had only 1/2 day of school today then off to finish shopping. I think everyone decided to finish theirs also. Brough KFC home for dinner. DH had to work late so DS and I had to feed cows in the dark, thankfully no calves. Supposed to snow alot tonight so we locked everything in close to the house with the big barn.
Raven, sorry your back is "out", that isn't a good thing.
Phyllis, hope you're feeling better. Start taking your zinc! Oh and BTW, thank you so much for the Christmas card, I'm sooooo bad, didn't get any out this year :(

I think we're all tired before Christmas...I spent the day cooking for Christmas Eve and we went out for Chinese Food. ALA Christmas Story! :)

I had part of that fresh ham my husband and I got for Christmas from a neighbor...we finally got that cut down to smaller sections, and it was a whole leg.

fresh ham basted in mustard with salt and cajun blend
scalloped potatoes
lima beans
yeast rolls (frozen kind you let thaw then cook)
There was someone who said that they basted theirs in mustard and it would not have that mustardy taste, and it didn't. It was absolutely delicious!
