you likely set up google desktop as the default which is why now oyur Outlook is using it to search, you should be able to change that setting in your outlook so it uses a different search option. Linda- I'm running into the same thing on my computer. I thought I had pretty good protection on my computer and I somehow got this thing. I noodled around and found lots of recent talk about hiss exact problem. Gurus seemed to keep recommending the anti-malware I have linked below. I downloaded the free version, seemed to clear up most of the problem. I still have the problem...but only on the very first item in the list of whatever I've Googled. If I choose any other hit other than the first, I can get right to it. If I really want to choose the first hit, I have to select it, hit go back, select it again, and go back, until I get it. Sometimes I can get to the site after the second or third try. I've got my computer guy working on it again now. [He thinks it happened as the result of clicking on an ad that came up on a website where malware was scripted onto what appeared to be a legitimate ad. Huh? Oh well...I don't remember clicking...but the kids might have. :( !!] If I find out anything else, I'll let you know! He's really good and was stumped by this! I usually reset IE back to it's defaults (advanced tab of Internet Options). That's useful if one of the add ins is causing the problem. You can also uninstall all of the updated versions to get back to IE8, in case one of the updates got corrupted. I sometimes see web page display issues when the 64 bit version is used. Windows 7 comes with both the standard 32 bit and the 64 bit IE.

I'm sorry it wasn't for you. It is not a one size fits all. Which would be boring if we all liked the same. Often when we completely turn old equipment off or unplug older things they stop working when we plug in or start things up again. Hence asking if the directions for installation was followed. It is often because the part that breaks is worn out but as the status quo it functions fine, but if it is changed such as a short burst of a higher current can trigger a break down. Kind of like when you are walking around you don't feel as stiff, but if you sit for a long period of time in the same position you can feel stiff when you first start to move. I don't go online per se, I use the app. Yes it communicates over the net, but doesn't actually need a browser or pc to access. If I'm home and not in bed I can just go over and adjust the temperature like any other thermostat. You can program it like a regular programmable thermostat or you can let it learn your patterns and program itself. I like being able to turn it on from elsewhere as we use the auto away feature and if it is av really hot day or cold I like turning it on when I leave work which may or may not be on a schedule which was an issue with our old thermostat. It was either running too early or not early enough. It also does a better job at switching between heat and AC than our old one did. Important where I live as temps can drop 30 degrees in a matter of 10 minutes when a cold front moves in. It is so nice that it switches with fewer degree difference than our old very expensive best at that time thermostat which never did a good job with that.
