It is a good thing to be getting this surgery over and done with Stacie and glad your Mums are helping. I had my tubes tied when my youngest was 6wks old and he was spoiled rotten by the nurses in the hospital, so I know Hudson will be fine. I was feeding him but expressed and they bottle fed him while I was out. I was in hospital for a couple of days and enjoyed my little "holiday" before going home to my 2yr old and the housework etc. All the best for a quick recovery and let the Mums fuss over you and the little ones. Gee Stacie, your luck isn't that great is it? I thought babies were immune to stuff when they were breast fed. I guess not. I hope your surgery goes well, and you can be back on your feet in no time. Glad you'll have help with your mom and MIL. Did DH get over the fact you didn't license HIS truck??? If not, you have a good excuse for no sex. Bwahahah

I had the laparoscopic gallbladder surgery this past July.

Surgery started at 10:30 am - I was back home by 6 pm.

Ate lunch (turkey sandwich) when I woke up in the recovery room!

Took me three days to recover at home - no bending, lifting, car driving, etc.

Doing great now. I feel much better and can eat fatty foods without fear of a gas attack.

Thanks for all the thoughts and encouragement. Yes DH got over me not licensing the truck, I went in and found out that the state patrolman has only been on the job a month and has been a little overzelous. The dropped all the charges and I only had to pay for this years registration. Found out why DH was so ticked, the cop was really rude to him, made him park the car and walk a mile in shorts in 20 degree weather and was threatening to him. So by the time he got home he had a full head of steam going. The cop also pulled over a girl in town for a dirty license plate and 2 others with expired tags and gave tickets for all 3 like DH and not a fix it ticket. The county attorney told me that they are having some trouble with him.

My husband and dd both had their gall bladders out in the past 4 months. You'll feel much better after the surgery. I will say this--dd's dr. didn't tell her not to eat for 24 hours after the surgery; DH had a different surgeon who insisted that he'd feel better if he refrained from eating until the next day. I don't know if that made the difference or not--but DH's recover was MUCH easier than DD's. Could have been other factors involved, of course, but I throw that out, just in case you're interested.

In both cases, though, they recouperated pretty quickly. Another thing DH's dr. mentioned--which was helpful to know, was that the day after the surgery, he'd be feeling pretty good, because they sort of 'wash' your insides with an anasthetic solution (at least that's the way he explained it) and it's still helping the next day, but the day after that, you'll feel a little worse, then after that, you recover at a pretty rapid pace. That was true for both DH and DD (although her dr. didn't warn her about it). But it was interesting that the 2 surgeons didn't both tell the patients the same stuff.

And neither of them needed the prescribed pain meds--both got by on the occasional tylenol (as approved by their drs.).

Hope your recovery is just as easy as both of theirs. And that you feel as well afterwards as my DH has--he'd had stomach problems for years--which had been diagnosed as irritable bowel, but since his GB surgery, those have ALL CLEARED UP--he's been able to eat anything at all, with no problems. Good luck! and get better in time to enjoy the holiday.

I had to have my gallbladder removed when Sophie was 1 month old. I went in to Emerg. one night with crazy pains in my belly and apparently I was yellow like a Simpson. :) When they did an ultrasound they said that my gall bladder was about to rupture, so they admitted me and did the surgery right away. They had to do a bile duct flush the next day because of stuck stones. I was in the hospital for a week. I pumped milk while I was in there to keep it flowing. But I was on antibiotics and demerol and wasn't able to nurse, or even give the pumped milk to Sophie. I do remember being so incredibly sleep deprived before I went in to the hospital, though, that I appreciated the break and the rest - even with the pain. :)

I hope and pray you heal quickly. It's great that your moms are coming. Take the opportunity to get lots of rest and take care of yourself!

Easiest surgery to get over, I think! Also... they don't always tell you this: Whenever I ate, my intestines functioned like those of a duck. In and out... immediately! Diarrhea is common for a while, too. He told me this was due to the liver having to work overtime now but that it would be better soon. Mine took about 3 mons. It was no biggie but I knew that when I ate (and it didn't matter what), there better be a bathroom nearby! Recovery, though, was easy.

Good luck with the surgery. My sister and her daughter had their gall bladders removed laparascopically. Hope I spelled that right.
