What are you eating tonight?

I won a pair of tickets to a play from our radio station. It's at 8 pm. We decided we'd order take-out chinese. It's been months and months since we did that, and was it ever good!

Looking forward to seeing the play. It's a comedy and has lots of great reviews.

Shoot, Jas, I scrolled all the way down to see if you'd started yet since I was so late and didn't see a thing.

I like Chinese. Ir's so cheap it's not worth making at home. We have two pretty good ones very close, but I forget about it unless it's really cold and I want soup!

We just finished dinner. Pork Chops, steamed broccoli and cauliflower and baked potato. We'll have strawberries and cake for dessert. That's the first time I've cooked pork chops in several months. Delicious!

I had a open-faced roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes, hubby had hamburger steak, salad and asparagus at the restaurant we ate at with friends. Very good! I'll make a big pot of chili this weekend. The Papa John's here will give you 30% off your entire ticket with a Walmart receipt. Need to do that one night, sounds like a good deal (and i have plenty of WM receipts!).

I have a cube steak, some creamed peas and some rice. My mom used to make crm. peas all the time when I was a kid, and I never could figure out how to do it. Well, I followed a simple butter and flour recipe and now I know. In fact, I'll be making another one of Mom's staples when I was little - creamed potatoes. I asked my aunt if she ever made creamed macaroni and she said "never". We used to eat that too - anybody else?

Don't kbow - haven't got there, yet. Probably some cherry tomatoes, as I was weeding them before I came and many of them are ripe. Dang things - sure takes a long time to pick a bowl of them ... and over half of them split, so you have to grab 'em quickly, or they spoil. Large tomatoes almost ready: I think there are a couple that are. Should be some ready for church, Sunday. Beans need picking ... some broccoli is ready. Corn is ready. Probably have some of them with bread from my bread machine ... ... and, though bought butter on special for a neighbour and son ... ... she buys hers from a rural friend near their cottage - and son, though he used to use butter, hasn't for a long time. So - my margarine is sitting, waiting, in the fridge ... and I have some butter to eat. If I slice it thin for the carrier and get it out of the fridge early, it's not so difficult to spread. Probably pie (I have some apple left that got rather smashed on the way from the store ... but still tastes pretty well the same) ... and ice cream and coffee/millk, more'n likely. ole joyful

Where do you eat your meals and why do you like to eat there?

Sorry for the yellowed image, it's gloomy outside today, but this is the view from the eating area in our kitchen. Here is where we eat 95% of our meals during cool or super hot weather, if it's mild or warm, we eat out side at the table. Our dining room is for larger gatherings. I love it there too, but rarely would the two of us choose to eat there alone. I've cleaned up the table so that the bottles of vitamins, supplements and Kleenex box are on the island, normally they live at DH's place! The tv is on the counter, to the right of the table. DH hates it being on in the mornings because it disturbs his reading of the paper, however we are usually watching the news or Jeopardy during dinner. Rarely do we eat in the den. We just don't find it comfortable to hang over the low coffee table while sitting on the sofa. Although that said, DH takes a tray in there when I'm having a Mahjongg game at the kitchen table. DD moved to Georgia and has the above areas and a darling screened in porch. I think that would be the best of both worlds.

I'm eating delicious pork, left over from last night. And I'm enjoying it every bit as much as I did then!

(hint hint - it's Jasdip's recipe that she posted about a month ago!)

Fried some potatoes and onions, put a polish sausage on top and put a lid on it to steam. Popped some fresh broccoli in the microwave, heated up some Texas Toast, and YUM!

We had a huge pork chop, (which will feed the two of us for more than two dinners!) browned and oven roasted, then sliced thinly, with lemon caper sauce. Sweet potatoes, and sauerkraut, with a leftover dab of mashed potato for me (I'm not a big sweet potato fan).

Dinner was pretty simple--leftovers from Tuesday (we'd eaten at a local place)--spaghetti and meatballs for DH, cheese tortellini for me.

BUT then we had dessert--brownie topped with a white chocolate Kamora mousse and Kamora-glazed almonds.

We had homemade vegetable soup with cornbread. It was cold today and the perfect day for soup. The vegetables were from our garden this summer. So yummy!

No idea.

Ole joyful's in Edmonton - about 0 degrees (that's 32 F.) ,.. but about 50 m p h wind, pilot said, but I haven't been outside yet. Edmonton airport information letting me use their computer - how's that for service ... and a lady offered me a stool on which to sit.

Having dinner with sis in law, brother/wife and niece and nephew later today ... it's sis-in-law's 80th birthday. So have no idea what food'll be.

Back giving a bit of trouble, but not much (after upwards of five-hour plane ride). Talked to doc yesterday, he gave me some exercises, I didn't figure need for pills.

Talk later.
