What put me in the Christmas spirit today! :o)

My water aerobics group, has turned into a social group, meeting 2nd Monday in each month, for 5 years now, for potluck lunches in someones home.

I am the "chairman" of all the events.

This year, for our Christmas potluck, I took up money donations for a needy employee where we attend water class, which was selected by the director and person in charge of exercises classes.

I've been collecting money for little over a week and a half, and today, I turned over $416 to the director, who came to the luncheon.

He was in awe, as this amt and generosity has never been done before. Usually everyone puts gifts in the box at the front for Toys for Tots, but I felt our group could do more which they did.

Makes the season so much merrier when you have these kinds of persons that give so another family can have a wonderful holiday.

Thanks Susie :D This cheers me up,too! Hey Kirk, that's what the tree looked like when I was growing up. We planted hundreds and hundreds with our mother it seemed like,even staying out in the woods til well past dark with all sorts of wild animals jumping around at us out there,(back then it was moonshiners you ran into on your property, now it's meth labs) and it was scary when you're only about 6 or 7 years old! I never inherited my mother's ability or want, to wander alone in the woods til wee hours of the morning. After I was married and lived here, we still cut down our own trees, until trespassers stole all of them(to sell, I guess)one year. Some grew back up from the trunks, but we didn't feel like fooling with them any more after that. The smell is great, there's no comparison to a live tree, but we broke down and got an ARTIFICIAL pre-lit one :D lol Too many allergies, they dried out quickly,too. Boy could I tell you some FUNNNNY stories us and the kids endured with live trees ( one year involving a crazy Himalayan cat we had :D ) I can't wait til next Christmas!oh and I see Carol's tree skirt! Thanks jasdip I really was so very touched. I enjoy doing what I do as I know it makes those receiving the cookies happy. Having spent many a Christmas Eve on guard duty or other duty, I know how lonely it can be, so if I bring a smile to someone's face, it's all worth it. By the way, your Better Than Pam stuff is super. I used it again today when I was finishing my baking Aloha Bread. The bread's practically fell out of the pans. Thanks for the recipe. Hey pink, the bus driver was cute as a bug and one particular beautiful lead singer, in one of the big shows, found him quite attractive. Long story, but we all got big chuckles over her and her actions just as we boarded the bus to head back to B'ham.

Awesome there are so many in need right here around us it is wonderful when you see these kind of people getting help.

Our GardenClub does something every year. This year, last Thursday at our Christmas event, we collected canned goods for a local food charity, we each brought new toys for the families we picked off the tree at church, plus theclub donated to the wounded veterans. We vote every year on what we will be doing, but we like to try to keep some local.

I think it's so much more rewarding when you can actually help someone who helps you. Good job!!!

You will all feel the glow for the rest of the season. Last year instead of gifts, I ask the money be donated to a local charity and I felt so darned good knowing people would have a nice hot meal for Christmas, I'm doing it again this year. And now, Harry wants to do the same.

Enjoy the holidays and keep on humming those Christmas carols.
