Goodness, I had forgotten how much fun it was to go book shopping via Amazon.

I received a gift certificate for Amazon, and have had such fun using it. Anyone else shop Amazon for books?

I'm finally getting The $64 Tomato, a must read for every tomatoholic, along with 2 other much wanted books.

LOVE Amazon.

I really love buying their music online. You get to listen to them all!

I'm seldom disappointed with any purchase from there.

Amazon is our favorite website, mostly for the books (I buy quite a few used, sometimes for pennies), but also for the DVDs, the music, and small household items. And the monthly bill shows it!

Don't get me wrong, if I personally owned a bookstore, I would not sell this garbage by personal choice. My problem with the situation is that [IMO] selling the literature isn't the problem, it is a symptom of the problem :^( Don't write Jeff Bezos, write congressmen and senators of states where these things are still legal or tolerated. Lobby for laws and stricter sentences for people who get involved with this type of activity. Support groups that work to bring enlightenment to other parts of the world. In other words, do something towards a real difference that will make these publications obsolete. I think in many places, this type of activity is seen as a way of life with no regard of animals as "souls" instead of "property." I honestly don't think you change that kind of thinking by removing a magazine from a shelf rather than finding a way to make the activity illegal and with great consequences. I guess I'm just being pessimistic about how this type of problem can be dealt with- I apologize for that and hope that boycotting and emailing Amazon does something to change the problem for all the victimized animals out there.

Fun indeed! I've read most of the blogger's list of food micro-histories, so it's not virtual to me. I've done the same thing, however, with books about islands, ill-fated explorers, the world's biggest hoaxes, etc., etc.

I'll play! I began the day by Leaving the Saints and admiring The Last Boyfriend. On my way to work I saw The Devil in White City, and walked by The Crying Tree to avoid Henrietta's War, but I made sure to stop at Tempest's Legacy. In the office, my boss said, Howard's End is on the Landing and sent me to research The Journal of Best Practices. At lunch with The Magician King, I noticed Tempest Rising in The Night Circus greatly enjoying One Dance With A Duke. Then on the journey home , I contemplated A Discovery of Witches because I have A Week to be Wicked and am drawn to The Secret Duke. Settling down for the evening in The Forgotten Garden, I studied The Art of Fielding by The Secret Keeper before saying goodnight to The Hound of the Baskervilles.

I'm a sick puppy when it comes to Amazon.com. I buy books, I sell used books and my book is currently for sale at amazon. :) I love Amazon.

Amazon is probably my favorite online merchant. I buy and sell books there on Amazon marketplace too. I would love an Amazon gift certificate as a gift. It's also a great place to read reviews of books to decide if you want to read them or not.

1. Go to Amazon.
2. Check a book in which you may be interested.
3. Read the review.
4. If you like its message, go to the library.
5. Check out the book.
and 6 (though there's no such number on your handle/username) Read the book.
and 7 (same message) Decide whether you like it enough to buy.
and (maybe) 8 (same message) Go back to Amazon.

I hope that you've had an interesting and educational fall.

It's a poor day in which one doesn't learn something.

I love Amazon too and buy most of books from them. Sometimes I find a better deal at eBay and go that route. I'd check them out at the library as Joyful suggested, but my library is small and rarely has the books I am wanting.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this sickness for books. A gift card for Amazon...How wonderful that would be!!

A trip to Amazon is always dangerous. You find one that sounds good, they point you to other great related ones, and one purchase turns into several... (It is also my favorite way to shop for library books, too, since some are fun to read, but not worth buying.) I just did some major Christmas shopping on Amazon. It took me a couple weeks to add, then narrow down to get everything just right. But I've got a new cart started already.

Joyful, I've always been a big fan of the library. However in the last 3 years I have had health problems and have been stuck at home a lot. In addition, our library was relocated to a (dingy) temporary building while our fabulous, big, new, wonderful, modern library is being built. It will open soon. Yippee, we've moved into the 21st century!! And now that I'm back on my feet, I'll definitely use it more than in the recent past. Thanks for the reminder.

Rhome, I agree: a trip to Amazon can be dangerous.

ole joyful...I just bought a book at Amazon because I couldn't find it anywhere. This was after checking it out through interlibrary loan, and finding out it was one I would be willing to pay for. Most books, I'm not.
