You have company!

I lost a bunch of them in the back of a very messy closet, found them 15 years later when DH cleaned the closet out.

Me ME I lost a pair of ear rings for GD--not expensive, or very cute anyway. Bought at craft show

No,, but I did find a white jacket, that I've been looking for for ages. Right in the hall closet where it was supposed to be, duh!

Oh, I thought you were asking if we lose our OWN Christmas gifts. :-)

I don't stock-pile like most people do, as I only have a couple of people to buy for.
Mom buys all year though, and she has found stuff for hubby that she intended to give him for Christmas and he got it for his birthday (as well as his birthday bag).

She forgets how many things she has bought until it's time to wrap them. That's how hubs has 32 polo-shirts in the closet!! LOL He loves them all!

I try to keep a list of what I buy for everyone, then if I don't find it.. I know to 'look harder'. lol I did buy some gift cards today and thought 'where am I going to keep these'? Don't want to toss them in the closet with everything else.

Yes and it seem they show up around June. lol

I keep them all in one closet and try to have a bag for everyone I prebuy for and a general bag~~~I buy alot on vacations and sales:) Have not lost anything yet~~~sometimes end up with too much I just divide it up betweem b-days and Christmas~~~

I lost a bag of stocking stuffers 18 years ago and they still haven't shown up!

I'm another one that had a certain place for allll the gifts purchased during the course of a year, and many I wrap as I get them, and just put the names of them.. ready to go...

One year I was particularly organized. I had all the stocking stuffers wrapped and put them in individual drawstring bags, labeled the bags so all I had to do was empty the bag into the stocking. We were having a party for about 50 people three days before Christmas and DH was helping me clean. You guessed it, he threw these bags out thinking them garbage. I had some nice gifts there too Cloisonne earrings for the girls, a watch (not real expensive) etc. Christmas Eve I go to fill the stockings and looked everywhere for these bags. I knew where they were suppose to be but since they weren't there, I continued to look. I still had a young son that believed in Santa so I desperately went through every drawer in the house looking for replacement gifts. Every year I misplace a gift or two but it shows up eventually. Nice to hear other people do too.

I found it, I found it! It was in the closet in my beach bag, I must have just threw it up there and that's where it landed.

It's a running joke in our house when we are finished opening things one of my kids say, Ok, Mom what did you forget?? There is always something..

No offense, but I can't imagine having a closet in my home that I had not clean/straightened up in 15 years. I have known people who don't have any idea what is in the boxes in their attics. That would drive me crazy.

Several years ago I was on vacation in the Fall, and I visited several states. While I was shopping I bought three Christmas gifts for my Grands. When I got home I put them away in a closet.

In due time I got my Credit Card statement that showed 3 charges in a location that I had no recollection of. I disputed the charge and included the fact that I had not been in that area where they were made. The charges were removed, without question.

Fast forward to Christmas time. I gathered up the things I had hidden and there were those 3 items. Did I feel stupid? Yes. Did I feel like a thief? Yes. I wrote the Credit Card people and explained that I had been there and bought the items, but had put them away and forgotten them, and told them to put the charges back on my bill.

They sent me a very nice response, thanking me for my honesty.

I could never have not told them about that.

So yes, I lost the presents, temporarily, but felt much better after I let them know about my mistake.

Honesty is the best policy.

Yes! I lose Christmas gifts! I had a very busy day yesterday with a short window of time to wrap lots of presents while my son was at the babysitter. I have a genetic defect which makes me put things away in hiding spots and then forget where I've put them. My mother passed this gene on to me. I remember lots of holiday dinners where she remembered the rolls in the oven after we'd all begun eating, etc. She also buys "C" batteries at the store only to get home and find that they've changed into "AA" size batteries, and so on. Yup, me too. I buy 3 packages of Large undershirts for my husband only to get home and find out that I've got 2 "large" and one "Extra Small".

So I finally found all of my wrapables yesterday and got everything done in record time! And I was smart enough to put ALL of the wrapped gifts in one big box in the closet. Oh, except for the space heater for my husband's ice-fishing shack. That was too big to put in the gift box so I put it in the closet and hid it under a coat. I'm SURE I won't forget to put it out on Christmas Eve with the rest of the presents........maybe a kind Kitchen Table person can remind me????

I recently found a check that one of my sons had sent me It was still in the Christmas card. The card was sent about 4 years ago.
It was a prety good sized one I must have been rolling in dough back them. I emailed him in case he was having to adjust his bank balance all the time he said to go ahead and cash it but I said no and tore it up.

This reminds me of a story about a boss I had one time. He told it on himself He got up enough nerve to ask for a raise saying the cost of living etc etc. His boss asaid "Well, Jack if you would cash the last two paychecks you got maybe that would help" We all had a good laugh

I buy gifts year round and stick them in various hiding places-closets, under my bed, in my car trunk. Then December rolls around and I try to find them. Also, my nephew got married last year. I gave them cash plus a crocheted afghan. The afghan was huge. I found a box big enough but decided I needed 2 packages of wedding paper to wrap it. I bought the paper, left it in the bag, then I couldn't find it! Searched hi and lo, gave up and bought two more packages of paper, exactly the same as the first. I wrapped their gift, delivered it and received a nice thank-you. But I'm still waiting for the bag with the first two packages of paper to turn up! I've also lost a gift after it was given to me. DH and I received a DVD player, unwrapped it and left it under the tree. Later, went to set up the DVD and use it, but the remote control was missing. I was able to buy a replacement from the manufacturer. I guess that darned remote got cleaned up with the wtrapping paper. Then again, my dog likes to hide her toys...

Happens every year to me also. Guess I inherited the trait from my mom who used to do the same thing.

I don't lose them, because they all go in a closet...in the boxes they come in. I do ALL my shopping on the internet.

My problem is remembering what I bought for who. I have two boys...similar tastes wearing the same size. That is tough. There have been a few Christmas mornings when one asked the other...how come you got what was on MY list. LOL

This post reminds me of my darling Mom that we lost this past August. She used to lose some of our gifts when we were kids but she started a really cool tradition that I just remembered and it made me smile.
Every New Years Day, when we got up in the morning, Mom had noise makers and hats from the night before at each of our places at the breakfast table. Along with these were the gifts that Santa had forgotten to deliver to us. It was usually a coloring book and crayons or a puzzle....something pretty small and stocking stuffer like. She did that for us every year when we were kids. What a great memory! Love you Mom RIP

I did one year. We'd gone to the bank (we give money) and I hid it in the closet in our bedroom. I KNEW it was in that closet someplace. I had to go through jacket pockets and everything before I remembered I'd hid it under my tees in the dresser. Talk about a panic attack!

This isn't losing the gifts, but when the grands were little, we bought gifts all year around. I stuck them under the bed in the guest room. When Christmas came around, I'd forgotten how much I'd bought during the year and shopped all over again. Boy, our kids/grands made out big time.

My girls love the "bonus gifts" that they get sometime during the year. Seems like I always forget a couple someplace. :)
