Before/during......

After.......

I painted the hulls with gold paint, made a prow out of sculpey, used bamboo skewers for the masts, hot glued them in place, balsa wood for the sails, along with doubled fabric and wire for the hanger and a little fabric flag. (I did a few with skull/pirate fabric just for fun, I like them the best.) Filled the rest of the hull with paper clay and drew planks into it, painted with a watered brown paint and rubbed most off. A gold metallic floss for the hanger and voilÃÂ ! They're done. I made 27.

My opinion- they're OK. Not as cute as I had hoped, but the ladies at the party will probably like them. I don't know what it is I don't like, maybe it's the proportion, I don't know. I like the fabric I used but maybe I should have used tea-stained crumpled up stuff instead, for the old sail look. Oh, well. These are what they're getting. I decided to cheap out on the presentation, too, I'm just going to put them in the bottom of egg cartons to hold them and toss something over them to hide them, like fabric.
