20-year memorial, tragic Montreal Massacr , mainly women students

It was twenty years ago, I think today, Dec. 6, possibly Dec. 4, that a young man, Marc Lepin, who had been turned down at the Engineering School of the Ecole Polytechnic in Montreal went into the Engineering Department of the school and, saying that he hated feminists, separated the men and women, then shot 14 women to death, injured 10 more and 4 men, then turned the gun on himself.

He was from a dysfunctional family - his father had beat his mother, they separated and she wasn't able to care for the children, so he was bounced around some.

In recent years she has come forward and now speaks to groups asking that people not harbour such hateful thoughts.

There was a discussion on the CBC Radio One, Canada's national broadcaster, the other day between one of the injured and Marc's mother.

There was a documentary about it on CBC Radio One "Sunday Morning" program this morning.

What a tragic thing it is that we've had so many such experiences in recent years.

We need to learn to respect others more.

Good wishes to you all for the coming week.
