What kind of stuff do you keep around to snack on?

I've got to starting keeping some stuff at the office to snack on during the day.

I just threw away a tray of vegies I brought in last week and only ate a few pieces of. *sigh*

We had a cute white wooden charging station from Pottery barn with a little drawer, and a place for the charging cords to come out and a shelf for them to sit on. It took up a lot of space and became another catchall for junk. Plus, it was really too big for a counter. And a bit too small for iPads, even minis. Another problem we experienced was that whenever anyone needed a charging cord in another room, he or she would remove it from the charging station and forget to put it back, so half the time it there weren't enough cords available, So my solution was to change out at least one electrical outlet in each room to one that has a single ac dc plug thingie and two USB receptors. Then I made sure every room had a couple of USB cords plugged into those receptors. Here's what happened with that: first, if you don't use "real" apple cords there is no way to know if they'll work, even the guaranteed amazon ones. Second, the cords are not long enough to continue to use the devices while they are plugged in, so that is another problem. Then the worst problem of all--- USB charge cords plugged directly into a USB receptacle charge at the speed of an octogenarian turtle, and I mean SLOW. When the USBs are plugged into an adapter which is then plugged into an outlet they charge about 3x as fast. I have experimented with every outlet we have and this holds for all of them. PLUS, when you have TWO USBs plugged into a single outlet, one of them may not charge at all. And the other will still charge slowly. Additionally, when all our kids are home visiting at the same time and go back to their various schools,apartments and jobs, the charging cords disappear! So my recommendation for daytime is to not change your outlets to USB receptors or even half USB, but get a USB acdc adapter for at least one outlet in every room and leave it in (or the Beltone thing described below), an extra long APPLE brand only charging cord for that adapter, and mark it in some way so that it can be identified as a house cord, like tying a red twist tie on it. We finally abandoned the charging station now just plug our devices into whatever room we happen to be in at the time. The Beltone thing actually plugs into the outlets (therefore making the USBs work like those in adapters) that has gives you USB receptors and acdc plug ins. We have these in the outlets in our respective bathroom vanities. That's where my phone goes at night, it's ready the next morning. Dh's phone has to be plugged in next to the bed for night calls, but it's in an adapter to charge faster. No docking stations as they don't work with many phone cases. Sorry this has turned I to such a long post, but we have been trying to find the "perfect" solution in a multi iPhone, multi ipad family. Not sure we have found it yet!

I sort of like the "cooler in the trunk" idea. That would certainly help from bringing home groceries. And, if you needed to load up the trunk w/ other stuff, as long as that stuff was small enough, it could sit inside the cooler instead of outside it. And, the cooler could transfer to inside the car if you were transporting a bulky load. I agree w/ RJVT--we can't see your space, so we won't have much in the way of *real* help. And, of course, you may not have an attic, garage, or basement. (I know I've gotten grumpyw hen I've said, "where should I put this," and someone has said, "why don't you put it in the garage?") I store the DR-table leaves under the bed (I considered storing them behind or under the sofa, but there wasn't enough space). An ironing board could go in any of those places, but I know I'd never get it out of there, bcs of the bending. It would also get dusty, which would be bad for an ironing board (I'd hate to have to clean it before I could use it). A tabletop one would probably lean against the wall of a closet easily. If you have a tall shelf unit (wardrobe, bookcase, china cabinet) you could pull it out from the wall just enough to slide the ironing board behind it. I have both a real ironing board, and a tabletop one. I find that I use the tabletop one most, but I do sometimes need a bigger working surface, or I want a separate one bcs my table is being used as a cutting board. I'm lucky to have a closet that I can stash it in, up against the wall. Good luck w/ those big, odd-shaped things!

Make sure you take lots of Vitamin C. Wash your hands often. Cough into your elbow. Sneeze into your elbow. Or a Kleenex. Drink lots of fluids. I don't buy any cough meds until I get sick (I work in a drug store. I should be sick all the time. I had a runny nose last month. It lasted 3 days. Can't remember the last time I was actually sick.) Anyhow, I don't take anything until I know my symptoms. I won't take a medicine with Tylenol/Advil in it if I don't need either. I won't take a medicine with any drug in it I don't need. Having on-hand medication doesn't help. If you take the wrong medication, it won't help you. It's best to see a pharmacist, explain your symptoms, list the medications you're already on, allergies, etc., to him/her and let him/her decide which is best for you at the time.

I went to the dr. last week with "something." He thought I had either strep or the flu; however both tests were negative. He diagnosed a virus and upper respitory infection. He highly recommended Allegra-d, Mucinex DM, Coricidin HBP and the nasal spray Neo Synephrine, all of them over the counter. I've used all of them as directed...some 8 hrs and other 4 hrs...and am finally out of bed. Still coughing but not all the time as before. So, currently, that's what's been working for me. Good luck, everyone. It's been difficult to stay well this winter, with allergans so bad and Mother Nature thinking it's already spring. Local schools are closing for a day at a time to disinfect everything after near-epidemic levels of flu and even pink eye.

I just went through a bag of Clementines. I need to get another bag. I also buy those 100 calories packs of granola bars, cookies, etc. and the WW one point lemon and carrot cakes.

Two of my favorite snacks are graham crackers with peanut butter and slices of apples and cheddar cheese. High in protein and fibre, unfortunately lots of fat and calories, but they taste good and are pretty filling. I stop when I feel full.

My new favorite is Wasa crispbread since I was -finally- able to find them. Unsalted dry roasted peanuts, assorted raw vegetables, granola bars.

What are clementines?? I googled them,but it shows they are restaurants,what did i miss??

I like to keep a variety package of cheese/cracker and peanut butter/crackers, sometimes there are cookies in the case too. An apple goes real good with them.

Not that good for you, but it will hold you til you get real food.

Also, I use to keep a six foot Sub Sandwich in the store refrigerator. I'd just cut off a 1" section to nibble on.\

Another Clementine lover here. I'm always so happy at this time of year when we can get the clementines and also honey bells.

Clementines and honey bells are both citrus fruits. Sooo sweet and juicy and easy to peel. I can eat a whole bag of them in two days (or less!)

I also have a weakness for M&M's Dark candies and Twizzlers.

Clementines are like tangerines, or sweet, zipper-skin oranges.

I like ground-up almonds, with some ground-up chocolate chips mixed in. Sometimes I add some ground-up cashews, but I can eat them as they are, if I let them soak in my mouth for a while.

I used to like chocolate buds and macaroons, plus what we call slowpokes, that are sort of like low-brow Turtles. But the price went up and that was when I felt that all of that sugar wsn't that good for me, and seldom have them, lately.

Ground-up peanuts plus chocolate.

Dates.

Apples.

Peanut butter.

Cheese (chunk cut off of a block).

Celery.

In addition to above mentioned items, I like to keep some pickles, and olives, strawberries, blueberries

Chocolate pudding that I add walnuts to or honey roasted pecans. I also like pico de gallo...except I don't usually put jalapenos in it, and really thin white tortilla chips. I go through spells where I eat that a lot.

I started Weight Watchers and now snack on carrots, oranges, apples, maybe some reduced fat vegetable thins crackers or the Weight Watchers snack cakes or their bread, toasted. I am trying to make healthier choices. Bad choices got me to the weight I am today (plus some).

My DH (and my father) are addicted to "Nuts and Bolts", which I make for them to snack on. It's made of Cheerios, Wheat Chex, Rice Chex, pretzels, peanuts, pecans, and spices (then baked).
