Amazon is about the best and most safe shopping site on the net. And....they ship things very fast. I have never had trouble using my credit card anywhere on the net. I now have an Amazon Visa card.

Credit card, yes. Debit card, no.

I've bought plenty and often on Amazon, few shopping opportunites in my small town and gas is expensive.

If you stock up and buy more than $35 (its just gone up), chances are you will pay no shipping, although a few of their orders are filled by other vendors and in that case you may pay shipping.

I've never had an issue or reason to be concerned about the security of my card, I use both my household bank card, and on some sites (though not Amazon) my PayPal account.

I have an Amazon order on its way now, couldn't find my mothers Vanity Fair pj's that she's worn all her life at Macy's or Penney's this year. Amazon had them and at 30% off. I added a new vegetable scrub brush and silicon spatula for myself (needed both) to bring the total to the free shipping $35 amount...

I had an Amazon order shipped directly to my nephew last week, to save on repacking, another trip to the PO.

I have never had a problem with Amazon..I use my Visa debit card.

We shop at Amazon all the time and never had any sort of issues with using a credit card.

debit card does not have. (If per chance your debit
number is stolen, they could wipe out your bank a/c.)

I have done at least 65% of my holiday shopping on line this year and most of that has been on Amazon. Amazon has come a long way since it's early days and I find that I trust it. It has become my *go-to* supplier of all things that I can not find locally. Deliveries are fast; they communicate well with updates on when items have shipped as well as the estimated date of arrival. I use my credit card, billing is clear and easy. I really, really like Amazon.

I love Amazon~~you can send people Amazon Gift Cards without leaving your house. Have gifts shipped to people.I have things my mom needs sent to her assisted living place, I have it all connected to her bank account, and I can track it all through her email account. Love it all. I returned something about 2 months ago it was so easy, printed a label on Amazon (free return) and just dropped it off at UPS, I cold have had a driver pick it up KEWL!

Don't shop much on line. No fear of using the card, shopping is just too boring. Got one item from Amazon. Look at any site of interest, they usually list a toll free number. If it makes you feel better, order by phone rather than a computer.

I love Amazon and have never had any problem with using my credit card. Returns are also very easy....order away and I bet you will like it!

Been shopping with Amazon for years and no problems with my credit card. Read my post on another thread about their new grocery/bulk delivery nightmare. NEVER AGAIN.

Like some of the others who posted here, I do a lot of online shopping. Amazon is probably my favorite site, but there are others. If you ever have doubts about a site, in addition to asking here you can check with Resellerratings.com to read people's reviews of the sites.

If you're starting out, the larger, better-known sites are probably your best bet.

You will not have a problem with Amazon or using your credit card. Have shopped there for years.

I shop Amazon almost daily, my first go to site to find anything. I pay the fee for Prime every year, so always free two day shipping and free streaming videos. Don't know what I would do without it. Use it to find a lot of products that I can't find in the US.

Haven't had problems with Amazon and credit cards.

The only problem I've heard of from them is that some of their stuff is counterfeit. Read the reviews for Rainbow Loom and Clarisonic. Both had lots of complaints.

My DD buys a lot from Amazon for us and herself. She uses one credit card just for Amazon. No problem and she usually buys enough at one time so we get free shipping.

Have used amazon for years. Never ever use a debit card but I do use a credit card. I have one card that I only use for online that way I can keep a close watch on it. I have my pay pal account set up using the same credit card, it's not connected to my bank account at all.
Never had a problem.

The safest way to shop online is to have a dedicated credit card. Only use it for online purchases; never take the card outside your house. That way, if the card is compromised you know exactly where to look.

If you don't have an unused card right now, buying something from Amazon is as safe as you're going to be, shopping online.

We are Amazon Prime members so we don't have to have $35.00 to get free shipping. I would say that about 85% of our Christmas this year came from Amazon. I buy everything for my "practice" grandkids from Amazon and have it shipped straight to Nebraska. Works like a charm.

We buy a great many things via Amazon prime, usually driven by the much reduced price. Even personal care items!

There is no question that we will use their grocery site when they get that up and running, as long as the price warrants it.

UPS and USPS better hope that Amazon doesn't establish their own delivery fleet! Yikes....

Glad you decided to buy, PT! I just want to add that if an item arrives damaged--either during shipment or if it wasn't in the best shape before shipment, Amazon is very good about returns. They'll provide you with a postage-paid return shipping label you can print, or (even better) they'll notify UPS to come and pick up your package.

This hasn't happened to me often in all the years I've been an Amazon shopper, but it's nice to know they take care of their customers.

We are a Prime Amazon member and love it! Never had any issues, easy to do returns and the few times I have contacted customer service--usually through thier online chat--they have been superb!!

Love, love, love shopping online and Amazon is the best! We're Prime members, and that has paid for itself over and over again.

Their return policy is fantastic.

I love everything about Amazon. I'm also a vendor (for my books) and I also sell odd bits and pieces of stuff here and there.

Hello. Discovered this forum recently and have lurked a bit. I LOVE Amazon and have used them for many many years!

There is one very important thing I didn't see anyone mention -- and it is actually the most critical for the 'safety' of information and info exchange:

Whenever you are on a website/webpage that is asking for sensitive information (like credit card info), make sure that it is running on a secure connection! The URL should read "https://"; rather than the standard "http://"; -- that extra 's' means it's secure. Any information exchanged with a secure server will be encrypted -- meaning scrambled and harder to obtain while in transit.

Never supply sensitive information via a standard http connection. :)

I order from Amazon a lot. Stores are limited here on the Keweenaw peninsula, and the closest other option (Marquette Mi) is over 120 miles away.

With all this discussion about Amazon, I just wanted to make sure you all know about Amazon Smile. It's a new program that Amazon started, in October (I think October anyway) this year. Instead of going to:
