Hmmm...very interesting. My immediate thought was having to see just how many old bills I would have to gather together. I see it will be much easier to just go with the standard amount. What is the standard amount? Individual taxpayers can take a standard amount from $30 to $60 based on the number of exemptions claimed on their tax return. For those claiming: * one exemption, the standard refund amount is $30 * two exemptions, the standard refund amount is $40 * three exemptions, the standard refund amount is $50 * four exemptions or more, the standard refund amount is $60 And "no" you certainly aren't stepping out of bounds here...your post is most appropriate for the forum...and could/should maybe be shared on the Money Saving Tips Forum as well. Thanks for posting. Sue

You're saying that he refunded the deposit in the form of a check that bounced? This is actually good news because it eliminates any argument over the actual refund. If you're in a generous mood, call him and let him know if you don't received the $6,333 in the form of cash or certified funds within, say, 5 business days you'll be contacting the district attorney to discuss criminal charges. If you can't reach him by phone, sent a letter via certified mail with a return receipt requested. If you aren't feeling generous, contact the district attorney today. It's a crime to write a bad check.

If you go to your PayPal account itself (not through the email) they will have information there about any important changes. This SUBJECT is legit, I went to my account and there is in fact an article in the PayPal Help section about the issue complete with the June 30 deadline. I also had similar from my bank and both were accessed directly not by clicking links. Of course, the email may be a phish even if the subject is legit, so go to your account directly to see the info.

It's very bad and not to industry standards, and that's just the veneer (the tile and finishing). No idea how they prepped that and the prep (what's behind the tile) is the most important. You didn't have a qualified tile contractor doing that work. While the "right to cure" laws may apply, make sure that you specify the acceptable cure as industry standards per TCNA and the manufacturer's products they used. The likely have no idea how to comply. Check out these resources for consumers and pay close attention to the references to the TCNA Handbook/Ansi Standards and manufacturer instructions (which apply to the materials and methods used to prep AND to install). See the "13 Questions" to start. It's complex, which is why there are actual tile professsionals and then those who claim to "do tile". This install is a perfect example of hiring unqualifed labor. https://www.tile-assn.com/page/trade-professionals-consumers
