I have used HR Block on line for years..Think it cost 30 dollars or so and its a hand holding simple walk you thru it, read carefully and fill in the blanks. Its free to do it until you go to file and that is when you pay. I dont even have to enter our basic information anymore..Its all saved..of course it gives you the chance to change anything that might need to be changed..ie when our daughter got married and we could no longer claim her. Give it a try!

uhh monica if you go back you will see i did say i could lose 1 day but certainly not 2 weeks worth... i also did say that every $$ coming in goes right out plus another $1000 a month, ea month, for the last 24 months, from savings, to cover what student loans do not cover ea semester. DH only gets $6K a semester, tuition runs $4500, books and CAD program rights another $4-5k, mandatory UCF insurance $250, parking $150... he gets nothing for summer so that another $2500 in tuition, $2K in books... all the shortages go on an interest-free credit card and i pay $1000 a month towards that from savings. savings has not be added to at all since 2007 when DH quit working to finish his honors BS/MS and 2 months later i got my income cut 23%. any refunds we get go straight to savings to replenish the losses. sorry if you think i'm not a good citizen lol because i refuse to take on more financial hardship...i have worked since i was 13, had fulltime employment continuously since the age of 18, moved out on my own at 18, put myself thru 10 yrs of college w/o a single loan or any aid, started a 401K at the age of 19, bought my own house, have no credit card debt of my own (dh has the college debt), buy everything needed for my DH, myself and 2 elderly dogs, pay my utilities and mortgage on time and have never ever even had a parking ticket let alone any other offense. not to mention i will never be a burden to society by collecting social security or medicare, as i was raised to believe there will be no $$ left for my generation (X) and i have planned my whole financial life around that. or maybe it's because i'm the child of a 3rd generation chicago political family that you think i'm not a good citizen lol ;-)) ~ liz

I want a great big fat check. If I got one, I'd buy this rundown big old Southern house in Macintosh, a town halfway between Ocala and Gainesville. I see it every time we go to VA and it's in just terrible shape. It's a big 2-story place with pillars and a big front porch. The lot stands on a hill and has the most beautiful old oak trees on it. It needs someone to love it and I sure wish we could be the ones. Harry and I did/redid an old house very similar to what Marilyn c is doing now and I love reading her posts so I can sort of relive the experience. It was a lot of work and hours and the most fun we ever had. I'd love to do it again, even though I didn't have a fingernail for years! :-) Of course I can say how much fun it was NOW! Such a nice dream!

I agree, you shouldn't feel sorry Kat. You mainly posted it to vent out your disapproval of your nephew worthlessness. Funny how life and people are. I've been disabled all my life and all my life I refused to do what your nephew is doing. I worked hard because I enjoyed spending my own money rather than the government's & the taxpayers'. I'm not one that likes to abuse the system. Almost 2 years ago, my disability changed its course and forced me to quit working. I am now living on disability income. You just don't know how much I miss going to work and make my own money. When I had to apply, the social security agent could see how much I was in distressed. She tried to comfort me by stressing out that I've paid my dues all these working years. And, that I shouldn't feel bad now for living on SS Disability, that's what was there for. I am not depressed but I feel empty and useless. I don't understand how anyone would enjoy or accept feeling this way. A counselor had told me that it's usually how she has seen. The physical cabable ones don't want to work and just want to live on welfare; yet, the disabled ones try harder to be in among the working force. The system is there to help the needy ones but there are so much abuse over it. It's very sadden indeed.
