I finally decided upon and got a new washing machine

I had been sort of wanting one for a long while as the one I had was very old, and didn't agitate very fast, and I didn't want to put any $$ into it.

I knew I wanted a top loader, and did not want any bells and whistles. I wanted one that was reasonably priced and that had good reviews. I found 2 such washers but they both had the automatic water level sensors, which I found out could 'not' be turned off. I saw it as just something to possibly go bad later on, necessitating a costly repair call. I also read that if you lift the lid on those after they had started to fill (maybe it was after they started to wash) that they would add additional water whether you added a dishrag, or even added nothing.

I found a Maytag at Sears that met the requirements I was looking for and it was on sale ($79.50 off until tomorrow). It arrived today and was set in place and tested. I have only done one load so far, but was very pleased with the washing action, and spinout, with very little vibration. So far, so good. I am very pleased but will wait a month or so before writing a review on it at Sear's site.

Delivery and set up is free, after mailing in the rebate.

The washer is made in the USA, and has long-lasting commercial-grade components. I'm just so pleased with the Christmas present I bought for myself.
