Sure could use some extra thoughts

and prayers for DH. Had to call the Dr. yesterday. By his symptoms, he thinks he has pneumonia. Called him in a couple meds. and we're trying to get him better at home. He says if he's not better in a few days, we'll have to go in and he'd probably need IV antibiotics. So, if you can spare a few thoughts and prayers!! I know the power of prayer here and the miracles!! Thanks!

At the following url is a whole PDF file on Kerdi and its installation, as well as a streaming video on an installation. The only difference between what you'll see in the video and what I'd want to do is that I'd much rather make my own curb and mud my own shower pan, rather than using the preformed ones that they have. As for why Kerdi-- First, in any steam shower you MUST have a completely enveloping waterproof barrier-- not just in the shower pan. Up until the kerdi came along, I usually used a trowel applied membrane, being that sheetmembranes have seams to them, where leaks can occur. However, with the Kerdi, although it has seams, I was willing to try it due to the fact that Schluter is one of the most reputable companies in the industry, and they wouldn't market a product unless there'd been extensive r&d done on it, as well as testing to make sure it was a top notch product. They're one of those companies that you here about every so often that if there's a problem with their product, they'll replace the whole installation as well as anything that their failure might ruin. So I tried it, and I've got to say, I've done about a dozen or so kerdi showers, better than half of those being steam showers, and I've yet to have a single problem. The best thing I like about them is the integral drain that goes along with the system. Whereas most waterproofing systems are just like normal showers where the pan is concerned-- first the preslope, then the pan membrane, then the mud, and then the tile-- the Kerdi system has taken the mud right out of the pan, and put it UNDER it. The membrane actually attaches to the TOP of the drain, so there's NO chance of water sitting in the pan under the tile and having problems down the road with all the lovely things associated with that, like mold, mildew, bacteria, etc..The tile is thinsetted directly to the membrane, so that it (the tile) is the only thing between the water and the membrane, and it's that much easier for all the water to either drain out of the pan, or evaporate into the air. There aren't many products in this industry that I'd give a 10 to, but Kerdi is no doubt, one of them. One of the most innovative products to come down the pyke in a long time. Today started good even tho mom wouldn't cooperate. We are thinking possible stroke. BP went very low after lunch. Left corner of her mouth drew in. Couldn't hold her head up eyes going all different directions. Very little urine output. In fact still didn't have enough for a lab sample at 8pm. Dr ordered CT scan which came back negative. At a good lunch for her. Hoping it's just the meds but don't know. Thanks everyone for all the good wishes.

awww poor baby.... they sure cast bones sooner than they used to... Glad they got it on quickly... Did they make it a special color for her? Perhaps dome bling will help - give her hugs and tell her how special she is with the cast on... Prayers for the mom to survive it all.

I think they're okay. They're going to have to be. If not, we will really be reminded of my mother. Her cooking often went slightly awry - once she left the paper liner in the pie crust when she made a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. I hope two bowls are enough. I'll check with my sister in the morning. I could always make another bowl but each is supposed to serve 8 and we have plenty of cookies. She always has plenty of food so there won't be much room for dessert.

That is scary. I hope the meds the Dr prescribed do the trick. How old is your Hubs? Mine has battled pneumonia twice, both times I had to call the ambulance because he has COPD and was having a very difficult time breathing. The last time he had it, of course they told him it would be very beneficial for him to quit smoking. With the help of patches and (what our son called Daddy-downers) some anti-depressants, he did quit and that is 4 yrs ago. He is 81 yrs old. If your Hubs is younger maybe it would be more possible for his body to fight off Pneumonia. I hope so. Please keep us posted......and take care of yourself!!!!

You've got 'em Jamie, keep him well hydrated, might help to keep his head and chest elevated and if you have a humidifier that could help as well. (can ya tell I'm prone to it?)

Good luck, Jamie! I hope this does the trick, but if not, get him in to the hospital, I think he already has breathing issues, right?

A lot of people around here are getting flu like symptoms that last for a week...but they don't seem to be better then find they have pneumonia.

My oldest daughter was one of them...

That's been over a month ago. She still sounds bad.

Oh Jamie, I hope (and pray) the meds work and do it quickly. Please keep us updated. Hope he can avoid a hospital stay.

Thanks everyone. Dotmom, he is 61, but not healthy AT ALL. Pooks, he has liver failure. Has never smoked cigarettes, but did every once in a while smoke a cigar. Also, never drank a day in his life.
Thanks Patti, I'm hanging in there but it's really hard! I'm going one day at a time trying to get thru the holidays. But, I'm trying.

Healing thoughts for your dh. Hope his meds and some TLC do the job and he is feeling lots better very soon.

My Bro-in-law is getting over pnemonia and he is as strong as a horse. Didn't matter tho, it kicked his buns. Dh said although BIL is getting better he still sounds tough after 3 weeks. As a mom I can't imagine being down for so long. Yesterday I subbed for a fifth grade class where a young man seated in front of me was barking like a seal. I soooo wanted to have him go home. He was feeling great, just a terrible cough. I sure hope it was nothing contagious or I'm toast. :\
