This year's ornament for the swap party- 2 photos....

I told you I would show you what I made when I got them done. I finished these last night. They are made from brown wool that has a lot of really pretty colors woven into it and it was felted before I bought it. I sewed tiny bags out of them, turned them, added glittery brad noses and black eyes, stitched a mouth and eyebrows, punched little holes into the top sides and threaded folded ears onto a chenille stem and then poked them into the bag and turned the stem up to hold it. Wrapped a little bit of fake holly on wire around one side of the stem for a little flash of color and voila- they are done.

These were not what I had planned to do, but after making a prototype of a felt ornie, I decided it was too blah and decided to do something different. I like these OK, they're really different and small and cute, I think the other ladies will like them. They're not the most involved or intricate ornies I've ever made, but considering I left it so late and didn't start in March like I did when I made those faeries, I think they'll do fine. Working on them was a little frustrating because they're so little.

The party is on the 16th, I'll post photos on the 17th to show you what everyone else made.

Love the pictures! I would love to have a party for my Lhaso but she does not like other animals. Very jealous. She even tries to chase them when they are on television. A few years ago Wal-Mart had an actual dog birthday cake in the pet section. We got one for Sandy and she loved it. Can't find them anymore.

Real nice ornaments .My favorite is the real fat snowman on the top left,and of course your stars,one of these days i'm going to try my hand at those stars. I'll have to take a picture of my walnut ornie/desk sitter.I bought it years ago at a craft fair,it has googly eyes,a pom pom nose and a sea shell glued on to the bottom to form the neck and make it stand,and the hat is made with a styroform cup that they melted down in the oven and formed it into a hat,and is adorned with a red rose bud.Cute and like i said i've had it for years,it sits here by my computor. I agree with Janie, make some peanuts using Sculpy or paper mache, Dances. I hope Elmo stays safe this year, yikes! Make sure you unplug those lights when you're not around, Janie. Ideas for the peanut ornies came from pinterest. Adella- get the unsalted, roasted peanuts. Hobby Lobby has that cool yarn, it's by Yarn Bee, Chrysalis/california sister is the color, it's variegated and wild! Here's a link to the directions for the snowmen. Flamey, those are darling. I am so impressed by your creativity. As I look at your Rudolph sacks, I am reminded of my mother's description of her childhood tree which was decorated with little cornucopias hung at the tip of the larger branches. Each cornucopia was filled with candies for her and her siblings and other children who might be visiting the parsonage.

Thanks, everybody, I'm glad you like them. I mostly made them while sitting on the sofa at night, very little time on the sewing machine. And I had to fray-check the snot out of those ears to keep them from coming apart when sliding onto the chenille stems. Using my tiny paper punch worked great for making little holes.

Kat, that's a great idea but I think I'll have to use one of those little miniature candy bars as a kiss is too round, but a little flat one will fit perfectly, I think. It'll give this little bag some weight and make them feel better.

The scented q-tip is a great idea, too, Terri-I'll suggest that to them and they can do their own. Maybe a nice pine scent! Pine-sol! lolol Maybe slide it into a little tube so it doesn't make a stain on the wool....
