A quick Christmas decorating tip...

The Dollar General has those tapestry table runners....I have one with ornaments hanging...

They make really pretty window toppers for Christmas...

You can hang them with a small saftey pin if you want...or hang them on a T-pin with a ribbon..

they could be tied on the corners with a gold braided ribbon or just some of the wide Christmas decorating ribbons...

They really look pretty..and those runners are only 4 dollar each. I think I'll pick up a couple more and do the three windows in my living room...If I can get going today...

Just thought I'd pass that little idea along....

That's a great idea. I've been eyeing up some that aren't of a Christmas theme, but go with my decor. I think I'll buy them and try your idea.

Didn't someone on here once make beautiful handbags out of them too?

My tip is DON'T THROW THE TINSEL ON THE TREE! If you want tinsel, hang it one strand at a time. The clump look is not attractive. It also looks as if the tree decorators got into the spiked eggnog early. Merry Christmas, y'all!

LOL!! Love it! You didn't mention another no-brainer -- don't put lighted candles on the Christmas Tree! You say your favorite Artificial Christmas Tree Source is Santa's Quarters. Out of curiosity, did you try any of the trees from Tree Classics? Their web site provides a table of the dimensions of every tree in every category.

Keep those photos coming ;o). The cups look so pretty in the big cloche. I really like your tip and usually remember to take pictures of new stuff. Mainly cause I want to share them here, but it ends up reminding me what I have bought. Trouble is, I keep "losing" things like some of the others on our Forum. (at least I'm in good company). Maybe I should lay a trail of bread crumbs. LOL. Each year when I pack stuff up, I feel so organized. And each year I can't find something when I need it. So much for being organized. hugs, Karen

Kathleen, Your wreath looks so nice. You have the knack for making those nice full bows too. I was so glad when they started making wired ribbon--now my bows look so much better than they did before. Cattknap, I don't think I would have thought to do that! That's a good idea that I will keep in mind. My neighbor loops the garlands along the trim on the front of her house and hangs a wreath at the end of each loop. I love the look but can't do it since she did it first! ;o( Only tip that comes to mind right now is that instead of wrapping ribbon all around a wreath for a door or centerpiece, you can just make loops and secure them to a wooden florists pick and insert them wherever you would like the color and loop on the wreath. Takes less ribbon and is easy to do. Kathleen, this was a good idea for a Christmas post. Can't wait to see what everyone adds to it. Always love new ideas. Luvs

dcarch, you always make me smile, whether it’s a comment, your amazing dishes, or your ingenious (and money-saving) builds : ) Your meter tests had a fascinating outcome. I hope… after we re-build our garden in a year or two, to incorporate 1-2 rain barrel trash cans for garden watering – I’d researched it briefly and think it’s a fantastic idea – there are filters to use for tar and shingle gravels, but I wouldn’t drink it! DH just added new yard drainage, plus an additional gutter, so I’m hoping he’ll be open to diverting some of our roof runoff later. Since you mentioned it… I was one of those who enjoyed rivers and streams. I’ve lived off and on (currently on) near the Great Smoky Mountains, and each spring/summer I’d boulder-hop up streams and rivers to get away from the crowds… I will never forget jumping into deep pools and the wonderful shock of icy water from the mountain snow runoff in late spring! Or finding a moss-covered smooth rock to slide down into a little deep pool – I’m sure I’ve swallowed my share of black bear pee... and other things. Sometimes we adults need to behave like children : ) I’m sure I’ll enjoy some snow ice cream next deep snowfall. OklaMoni, thanks for the photo! Helps explain a lot! I envy those clothes lines… I have a rather strict HOA that disallows them. I understand it, but the scent of fresh air and sun on sheets… ahhhh.

marlingardener....when we were kids we always used tinsel...the good old metalic kind...not the plastic that gets static in it and jumps out and shocks you when you walk by.....LOL

We would put two or three boxes on it and each strand had to be hung one at a time.....The whole tree would be covered. The lights just seemed to sparkle more and those poor Charlie Brown tree would look so full and beautiful.

My husband hates the tinsel...so we pretty much got away from it.

This year if I had the time I would put it on because I dug out all my old ornaments and put them on the tree...Most of them are older than my husband and I. Many of them belonged to his parents. (that probably puts them at about 70 years old...) Some are a little worn looking but that just adds to the charm. I think my tree is beautiful this year.
If or should I say when I get the mess in here put away...I'll try to get a good picture of it but darn...just remembered I don't think I can post it...that HP image zone is still missing.
