After reading jasdips update on her mother, I started wondering how yours is doing. And your brother, David, is he okay?

Oh this is so nice!! Summerfield, I just LOVE, LOVE all the details in your drawings! I love the exterior molding, lighting placements, and how you have the arches in the brick area under the back porch! Theses are things I wouldn't have thought of.. all the little details! I have studied and studied everything you have given me (THANK YOU AGAIN!) and plan on incorporating all the little tweaks on the first floor you have improved on with one exception, the laundry room. I really like your set-up better in someways, and less expensive with less cabinets, but wonder if I'll miss that outside window and more countertop space? Do you see any other suggestions in this area? Also, wondering about the size of the island in the kitchen, you have it much shorter than what the kitchen designer(s) were going to use, and would love your thoughts and reasons on the shorter island. Upstairs.. I really was looking for much less, something we could just close off someday, but this matches the feel for the downstairs, and I just LOVE IT! I have struggled over this upstairs now for months, and our "fired" designer just came up with nothing to offer..., just boring layouts. I can't find a single thing I dislike! What do you come up with in regards to square footage main floor and 2nd floor? My design program was showing the downstairs to be about 1995 sq ft, but our "fired" designer calculations were much higher (over 2230 sq. ft)

Boo Hoo! My electrolux induction range delayed 1 to 2 months

I don't know how this happened but I paid $2099 for my Kenmore induction slide-in last October. I have never seen it that cheap again. I love, love, love the burner arrangement. I can use my 12" and 10" skillets together in the front at the same time. The free-standing version of the Kenmore induction has a really weird, not useful burner arrangement if you ask me. So far, I have found the warming drawer to be kind of useless. It takes a full 15 minutes to heat up -- by the time I figure out I need it, I don't have 15 minutes to wait. I don't think it really gets hot enough to keep the food like I want it. I just as soon keep the food in the oven with it shut off and the door cracked. The extended gliding racks on the Electrolux sound really nice! I'd like to have those for sure. All in all, the only thing different about this range and my 10 year old Kitchenaid electric convection slide-in is -- the induction burners and the warming drawer. Other than that my KA had all the same features. Love the induction burners not sure I'd spend $1,000 more for them. PS: The extended service plan for the induction range was also more than for a regular electric range. It is worth asking for a discount on the service plan. The also charge a boat-load to "install" a slide-in range. We did it ourselves but leveling it proved to be a challenge.

Updating my son's room - how do I cover this mural?

We had to lose a mural too -- bought a house with a tea party mural - perfect for a house with a couple of girls, but we have two boys. We wound up wallpapering, so we did sand the wall. We had to remove texture more than paint. Since you are planning on painting, and assuming the walls have some texture on them, I would paint on one coat of tinted primer and see if you can see ridges or brush strokes through the primer. If you do, you ony need to sand to break those down, not totally remove them, so they blend in with the wall's texture. If you have done a lot of sanding you will definitely want a second coat of primer. If not, you can decide whether you want a second coat of primer. If the wall has no texture at all, then I would give it a light sanding first, then prime. If the grey goes with the blue in his room, I'd go with the one he likes. If you have a large open are of carpet, you can put a rug on top of it. If not, it will fade away visually -- it isn't going to be what he or likely anyone else is really looking at.

Yeah, the NOID is big enough now to I.D. as Cameo. Thanks, guys. Now I want to see if the other little NOIDs are Pure Heart and Country Mouse, or little offshoots which broke off other hostas during transplant to the fabric grow pots. There's about 2-3 pots of obviously small variety NOIDS. I also have one or two offshoots of Cracker Crumbs, but those I recognize.

Oh wow - just reading this - sorry for such a delay in updating.

First my brother - he seems to be recovering well, but with an exception. We just found out that he needs some sort of heart catharization as he has been experiencing a fluttering feeling. He's currently hooked up to a heart monitor and the doctor's office called today to tell him of this new test he needs. Looks like it may require a pacemaker. He's not a happy camper.

On the bright side, his Cholesterol is down, as are his triglycerides and he's lost about 25 lbs. It's just unnerving about this new development.

Mom is holding her own. She's never really recovered her strength fully from all these infections and we just recently saw a specialist. Unfortunately, he's not the right kind of specialist. The hospital told us to see a nephrologist but he said a urologist is better. In the meantime, she's on a low dose antibiotic to ward off any reinfections. She's mostly in bed all the time, but one of her granny nannies get her up on ocassion. She can only walk a little and with much assistance. At least she's eating well and we've stayed away from the hospital so far this year. I'm looking into changing her primary care doctor - even though I like her - she did nothing to follow up with Mom after all her hospitalizations and ER visits. I thought she didn't have hospital rights but it turns out she does - she just never came.

So that's it from here. Sorry to make Kat_WA check up on me so much.
