My Christmas gift from sister (4 pictures)

I just wanted to share this with the quilters here, or anyone interested. Since I have no artistic/crafty abilities, this is so impressive. Note Toby checking it out at the top of the 1st picture.

Just the work and time involved in this gift means so much.

Front

I called it the Birdhouse pattern, but I'll have to find out the real name of it.

Back. I saw X's and O's here. Hugs and kisses.

Her signature (she's going to put her hand made lable on it for me too).

I love the little acorns she put in the corners. But there's also leaves, and stars, and probably lots of things I haven't found yet.

Hye Billy Rae, glad you like the pictures and I am glad too that I was able to save it. Funny though, I did a search before posting because my sister told me it was a Christmas cactus, and sure enough, the site told me that Christmas cactus is the only one that has the rounded instead of spiked "leaves". Then yesterday I did a search on the Easter cactus because of your post and it tells me that the Easter cactus is the only cactus that has rounded instead of spiked "leaves". Go figure. I'm going to call it my "Cindy cactus". That's my sister's name and will be right every time. LOL Bonny

I love getting presents for people but I don't have much family to go nuts for, so it was great to put up a box for my internet relatives :-D! I spotted the finger puppets first, and I thought "I have just GOT to get those", and it kind of snowballed from there.........I am so happy that everyone likes their goodies and even happier that they arrived at an opportune moment!

Nancy, Just read your post, sorry to hear of your loss. I found a beautiful poem that may be helpful for your scrapbook or just as comfort during the holidays. I have to share it with you. My first Christmas in Heaven I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular. Yup, it is a bit sad when they are all grown up. She will be 23 in March, I do not get to see her much, she is a Montessori teacher~~she puts her whole heart into those kids, I am so proud of her. She called me a few months ago and told me she was starting to feel spiritual, like I was finally rubbing off on her;) I love it!

Oh my Leslie, your quilt is beautiful. I love gifts made by hand and from the heart but not everyone appreciates them.

I've never seen that pattern before and I love all the little extra touches your sister added.

Oh I do love it. I just called her and she said the pattern is Row Houses (I think) like in San Francisco. Kinda fitting too, as it's close to her last name. It won't fit my queensized waterbed, but it is just perfect to snuggle up in my recliner with and watch a movie.

It's a beautiful quilt. I'd be afraid to use it, I'd hang it in a wall. Does she quilt by hand or machine?

Jannie, she got a new quilting machine for her birthday I think it was. It has lazer something or other. Kind of a big thing I think, as it rolls up the quilt as it stitches on it. I hope I explained that right??? She made my other sister one also. Hers was larger, more pastels, and a different pattern. I love mine.

I am not a quilter but I appreciate the talent. It is absolutly beautiful. If you have wall space I would hang on the wall. I have a neighbor that has her quilt on the wall and it looks wonderful. Another option is to fold and lay over a corner on the back of a chair, sofa or folded at the foot of your bed.
